Had 2 X25 clays shooting yesterday and i decided to try my Grizzly 8.5 for a couple of rounds, i was shooting 1 once AA skeet load #8, first 5 shot did not touch the clay after i got the hang of it, i had to slow my swing and concentrate on my follow tru... i got 16 out of the 20 left, and after that 21 of the remaining 25, no clays were trown further than 30 yards, i would sum it as a very good shotgun for grouse and snipe, looking forward using it hunting, this short shotgun is a lot better than i thought it would be... very good news... Cheers. JP.:)

I read somewhere, might as well clear it up here....that barrel length has nothing to do with spread (or very negliable effect on spread). Like a 8.5 inch barrel cylinder bore will have a same pattern as a 26 inch barrel cylinder bore. True? False?

Might be true at short distances, but the shot from a 26" barrel will be traveling faster, so you'll obviously see a difference in patterns at longer ranges, once gravity worked it's magic. Right?

Still pretty cool to be able to pop birdies from that shorty, musta turned some heads

the 8,5" wont be making full velocity so i would expect a slightly different shot pattern and less range.. but not a whole lot different..

as long as your shot is reaching its velocity then barrel length will not effect pattern..

i use a 22" 870 with a mod choke for everything..
i did use an 18" 887 tactical with mod choke but when shooting waterfowl the boom was a little much for shooters next to me .. so i changed up for their sake

Myself tought of it more like a novelty but now i realise that thing is pretty functional and might be a good hunting tool, i buy rifles and shotguns for accuracy, rarety, performance, pleasure and fun factor, this little bugger i might say is a pleasant surprise... Cheers. JP.

You notice that too huh?

Holy crap, it's kinda hard to NOT notice. I still remember this gem posted over there:

They should stick with the tacticool 'tards for whom an intelligent or knowledgeable post is along the lines of "AWESOME!!!!" or "ME WANTS!!!" A little mumbling here is a vast improvement over the mouth breathing over there. ;)

But when the tacticool have a question about legality, technical matters or something that requires a measure of knowledge beyond the best way to mount a bayonet they tend to slink over here to get their answers. :)

Or this gem:

Ignore the tacticool. They are quite often out of their depth on these matters. That's why there's a Black and Green shotgun forum. Think of that forum like the kiddies table at a family holiday dinner.

And there's plenty more......

I'm hurt :(

I have short shotguns, and long ones too.. can't I play in both worlds??

Wow, after reading those remarks, it boggles me how he hasn't been banned, pretty much rubbed his balls over half the cgn'ers drum kits.

I am waiting till the spring to chrony, but I would think that velocity loss with the 8.5 barrel would be far less than you imagine. Shotgun powder is extremely fast burning.

I tried mine out. At 25 yards it was surprisingly accurate I was able to group about 5 inches with slugs.

however it patterned buckshot at about 3 feet at that 25 yard range.

Back in the day, I did a little skeet shooting with my $300 Mossberg Police model. I was doing about as well as the guys with much longer, more expensive guns.

I'm not sure why anybody not shooting at the top levels of competition needs a shotty that costs thousands of dollars, except maybe for bragging rights. I'd rather shoot a cheap gun well than pay a ton for something that does no better on the range.
