What if, instead of using dummy rounds, the last round (cog) in the drum had a mag follow under compression that when lined up with the tower would push all remaining rounds out of the drum. Now that I think about it. One issue would be removal of the mag during these last few rounds, launching them all out on the ground. Too complex?

The bigger question is;

Why doesn't Remington make a mag-fed shotgun?

It's obviously not that difficult, if Norinco can add a magazine to the 870 blueprint. And Remington must be aware that the Grizzly-Mag shotguns exist. So why no mag-fed shotguns from Remington? I'd really like to know.

hmmm just got my grizzly mag fed and took apart the mag....

I havent fired it yet, or put any shells in it but it seems like the mag could fit more shells. has anyone tried to make the follower shorter, and cutting off what looks like a round limiter?? (cut along red lines in the pic):

is there a legal limit on this mag of 5 rounds? would modifying it be against the law? i know the handgun and rifle mag regulations but mag fed pump action shotgun is a grey area for me.

It's a common easy reliable mod, have fun! :) There are detailed instructions around here somewhere but you look like you have it figured out :) I didn't cut the bottom part though... just simply lop a little more than a shells width off.

I don't know about instructions for doing it or what you figure you did by lopping bits off but when I took mine apart I came to the conclusion that it was definitely not worth bothering. The indents on the side of the magazine are what stop the follower from coming all the way out, the lips on the bottom of the follower hit them. If you were to shorten the follower, you would a) allow it to come all the way out the top or b) if you were to redo the lips it would be too short to feed the last round. The only way would be to flatten the current indents in the magazine body and punch them back out higher up. But that's not really feasible with the indents being so close to the top as is. This just isn't worth doing to feed one extra round, if you want to shoot 6 rounds just toss one in the chamber and close the pump before you slap the mag in. The spring retaining plate is not part of the problem as it does not come anywhere near the roof of the follower.

if it works and you have the skill/time, then its worth it, now I will have 6+1 capacity.

you could probably get a 7th round in if you modified the dimples in the mag body, redesigned the follower, AND cut down the spring retaining plate, but I think that is not worth my time at the moment

as someone pointed out, one solution is here: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=255832&highlight=grizzly&page=2

You definitely could not. And that modification leaves the door open for FTFs on the last round. It would likely be more prevalent with target loads than slugs. Personally, I'm not willing to butcher something that's perfectly functional for the sake of a single extra round.
