grizzly shotguns

Well just got back from the bush AND..... It was all very bad:(

Not one out of four mags made it through with out 2-4 fail to feeds or fail to eject. I never thought it would be this bad, it cycle's shells fine unless you pull the trigger then it jams up bad. On a couple shells I did not think I was going to get the shell out of the chamber it was jammed so tight.

Soooooo where to go from here, do I

1. Just send the hole thing back if possible?
2. Try to fix it... Will CanAm let me return it if I can't make it work?
3. Use it as a baseball bat or a hammer of some sort :p

At this point I can't use it at all, I was hoping to be able to use it for dog'n in the up coming hunts.

Also it's the loudest shotgun I have ever fired EVER!!

Did you try different ammo? Look at the mags for smooth cycling of the follower/burrs/etc?

Maybe some quick troubleshooting will get it sorted out

Hmm strange. I went to the range last weekend. Cycled all 5 shells perfectly.

Love the shotgun. I was cycling 2 3/4" winchester super X rifled slugs through it. Shot like a cannon.

I have 3 magazines. Used 2 of them, but the two I used were flawless. Ill be trying the third soon.

Well I took a close look into the chamber to see why shells would not even come out after firing. And the marks in the chamber are sooo bad, they feel like a metal file in place's but deeper. So I polished it the best I could and I am going to give it another try. If it still jams in the chamber the gun is going back because the chamber is to scarred up.

After that I will work on it not feeding, which from what I read can be an easy fix.

I really want this gun to work, but sofar it's a POS and I think it's to do with quality control at the factory. I have seen some bad machining where I work and it looks like a tool was burned up or dull and they kept cutting with it.....Also the front sight is off center.

You get what you pay for....I hope the CZ I just bought from CanadaAmmo is better lol.

1. Polish the hell out of the chamber or even use some sand paper 1st to get any burrs out, this will clear up the fail to eject
2. On the front of the mag lip, file the edge a bit so rounds wont hang up there, then polish/smooth out the feed ramp

I was looking at mine today and the 1st shell tends to get stuck on the lip of some of my mags

Spent a couple hours cleaning the chamber and everything outside of it.

Then Went back out to the Bush and .....................IT WORKS!!:D I put all 4 mags through with random ammo brands ect with no problems. Very happy I could hammer off a hole mag in no time!

Going to range this Sat to sight it in:shotgun:

Great to hear! Haven't had a chance to get back to the range for a second attempt but this sounds promising.

What cleaner / lube did you end up using?

Hey,

For the chamber I used a 20 gauge bore brush with fine steel wool wrapped around it. I attached it to the cleaning rod and put that in my drill chuck. I then soaked the wool and the chamber in WD40 and at a medium rpm worked it in and out evenly like I was having my way with it lol. I stopped to check it with a bore light very often.

Here are some pics of the rest of the work I did on it. You can see how bad the machining is even after spending time working at it.

I did this all by hand...er finger, I don't think it's a job for a dremel tool as it would be easy to get carried away and cause damage.

Hope this helps!!

there you go

following up with my grizzly issue (fail to feed)

gave it a serious lube job and left it soaking wet with oil as I fed 50 or so rounds through it. It seems it just needed to be "worked in" a bit cause she's feeding great now!

I had a great time with it and am so relieved that I don't have a dud. I didn't have to do any filing or anything, just running shells through it seemed to do the trick after a while.

For anyone else having similar issues, make sure you clean the hell out of it and give it lots of lube, it should come around.

Thanks CanAm!

Anyone else had their front sight fall off?? I have a 12.5" grizzly with ghost sights...I took it shooting out of the box new...after 8rounds the front sight flew off and hit me in the head...

Just wondered if anyone else has had the same issue??

Having a great deal of trouble assembling a DA Grizzly 12.5 after cleaning, particularily feeding the bolt back into the receiver. It sits on the bolt carrier correctly, properly on the slide rails, I line up the rails, push them back into the receiver, as soon as the bolt gets there, I press the springs but the bolt is stuck and won't go any further. No manual or schematic with this shotgun. Watched every youtube video possible on 870 takedown/cleaning and NO ONE gets stuck here on this step. Starting to think something might be broken. Emailed canadaammo and didn't hear anything back. Anyone know of an online manual or had experience with this issue and managed to resolve it? This is the standard 12.5" version, no mag, with bead sight.

^^ you have to depress one spring, slide it back a little, then depres the 2nd spring and it will come back all the way

I have tried depressing both springs, the issue is with depressing the first, the bolt will not move a little when I do so, it is locked up. Removing the bolt and bolt carrier, I depress the first spring and am able to bring the pump rails right back into the receiver as should be the case when the bolt and carrier are on board... As soon as I try it a second time with only the rails and bolt carrier, the thing locks up completely again, unable to bring it into the receiver, spring is depressed completely. This was fun to shoot, but I'm starting to think its cheap Chnese **** that is not going to go back together. If you've watched 870 videos, you know how easy it is when depressing the springs to have the bolt practically slide back into the receiver. This is not the case. The ****ing thing is completely locked. I've even tried forcing the bolt, while pressing the front spring to the point where the spring stays down but when I press the second spring (further to the rear of the receiver, the thing doesn't give a millimeter. The problem seems to be the bolt carrier. ****!!! Just ordered the CZ and another DA, this time the 8.5"... Guess I won't take this piece of **** apart next time, when cleaning time comes, I'll throw it out and buy another like a ****ing Lexmark printer or something. Jesus.
