Grouse hunting guns

cooey single shot .22 works good enough for the grouse I go after.

I shot 11 grouse this fall with a Rossi '92 carbine in 44-40, all of them head shots. I bought the gun for CAS and it proved to be a tack driver. I was carrying it looking for deer when the grouse started showing up, so I thought - why not?

No pellets to bite down on and the birds drop like a stone.

We kill a few grouse every year with our house. The birds fly up from the lake and crash into our living room windows. It then becomes a race to see if I can get to it before the dogs claim it. I used to feel bad about this, but the fact is I see many more grouse killed by vehicles than I hear about people shooting them. I hit one that destroyed the oil cooler and rad of my Toyota Tacoma to the tune of $1850.

Who needs a gun?

I need a new bird gun.. I am retiring my old Stevens SXS .410 as I am having issues with the firing pins..a gunsmith basically told me it would cost more to fix than its worth.. I would love to find a Balkai in.410..simple and cheap..

To those people extolling the virtues of shooting high powered rifles at targets up into the trees. Don't. Where does that bullet end up.
