Grouse season is right around the corner!

Might use my new to me Remington 20 gauge pump for grouse this year .
What size shot should I use ?
Also I’m pretty sure I can shoot other than lead shot through that ?

We’ve been using #6 both in 12ga and 20ga for as long as I can remember.

I'm in the whatever is available (or have on hand)
- Usually, 7.5... or 6 later in the season when the chances of encountering a cottontails are higher.

I prefer #7 1/2 shot in the 20 gauge, I don’t usually go out at the beginning of the season, like to wait until some of the leaves are off, easier to spot birds.

Our season is open (Alberta opens Sep. 1), but I'm waiting for crops to come off so I can walk the edges of the fields around here. Weather has been crap since late August, so the farmers are behind on getting to harvest.

I don't make any big trips for birds, but I like getting a fall walk in and having the occasional chance to get a bird or two at the same time. It's mostly huns around here with a few grouse mixed in.

I have access to enough land right around me that I can walk for a long time without having to leave sight of my house, so it's a great way to spend a nice Saturday afternoon without actually going anywhere.

Finally got the last eye cataract surgery done this week. Have to let it heal for 5 or 6 weeks, then should be able to spot em better. Last fall was a bummer! Gettin old is no fun,....sometimes!
