Hey CGN,

Just thought I'd throw an update as to the performance of my GSG after the 2,500 shot mark since i didn't see one in the forum yet.

Keep in mind, I still LOVE this gun, but something should be said for the cheapness of the Barrel bushing when it splits with average use.

My only other issue thus far has been that the rubber washer/buffer on the guide rod has gotten mangled and caused the gun to jam.

It's possible that the two problems are related, when the rubber buffer started to flatten out and absorb less recoil it may have allowed the slide to travel a bit too far and transfer the impact to the cheap barrel bushing. But you'd think somewhere in the product development that type of issue would have come up and been addressed.

I plan on letting the retailer know and maybe they can voice something to the manufacturer. It just seems like a .22 should easily last beyond the 2,500 round mark without the metal cracking.

Anyone else having the same issues? after how many shots?

Thanks CGN,

Looks like you have the 1st gen Barrel Bushing. Cast potmetal. Updated versions uses steel barrel bushing. You might also want to check your guide rod. Is the rod itself rounded or X-shaped. Make sure to use a magnet (on both parts) to check if it is made of steel. But likely after 2500 rds, it should be steel. Send an email to Blueline Activities. You will find the contact info as supporting dealer. They are the one who brings in GSG firearms into Canada. They will bring you back into action as soon as you discuss with them your issues.

I have almost 3000 rounds through mine now, and after reading all these GSG related threads I'm now waiting for something to go wrong. Hopefully nothing will but.....

These really are fun guns to shoot, though. And the price isn't too bad either. Mine seems to have broken in nicely. Shot a little over 300 rounds (CCI Blazer) last week through it with only two FTE's. Mine's good for 250-300+ rounds each time out. The issues have been less and less with each outing. It still suck that they don't offer metal sights upgrades as an option intead of the whole tactical rail/fake silencer option . I'd rather pay a little more for metal sights than those plastic ones they come with.

I am closing in on 5K and the only thing I've had do is replace the rubber buffer after 3K.

I have the steel bushing but old round guide rod.

How do the GSG's compare to the Colt's? What's it, about a $200.00 price difference? Has anyone here had the opportunity to handle/shoot both?.....

Yeah, I have the round guide rod as well. Overall I still love this gun. The fit, finish, performace were all fantastic for the price...until now. I just worry about the slide now, being made of the same alloy as the bushing.

I did e-mail Blue Line with my issue and also asked what parts come in the parts kit they have for sale. If I plan on keeping this thing around I may need spare parts.

Good, then all you need for now is the barrel bushing and the cache disc. Also, check the condition of the thread of the barrel where the small M3 X 8 set screw locks into the frame. This screw becomes loose every few hundred rounds. Mine is still usable but already showing signs of wear.

I've stripped the gun down many times for thorough cleaning and I've always been confused about that screw, what's the harm if it were to fall out or be unuseable?

Anyone know?

Email Replied. All will be up and running shortly.

I replaced the stock barrel bushing in my GSG with a steel Colt one. I also replaced the original buffer with a 1/4" flat bib washer. [Can be obtained from the plumbing section at Rona in a 6 pack for $1.99 + tax = $2.23 - I bought "Master Plumber" brand, part #617 for reference].

My GSG 1911 .22lr runs like a champ. I think they are extremely good value for the money for a dedicated .22lr on the 1911 platform.

GSG has also replaced the washer with a polymer one so it should never wear out. PM sent They no longer use a rubber washer.

Mine is just around 4,500 rounds and the bushing is perfect. I have the 2nd/3rd gen GSG after they changed some parts to steel (bushing, guide rod) and the only thing I had to do so far was to swap out the rubber buffer after 2,500 rounds.

Blueline will take care of you, they've been excellent for me when I needed small parts like the rubber buffer or small screws. Excellent service.

Newbie here but I had my GSG 1911 for a while now. Fun to shoot except for minor issues addressed efficiently by Blueline. My problem now is the thread on my barrel retaining screw. It is approximately 30% left and I have to tighten the screw after few hundred rounds or so. I am afraid this will be completely stripped soon. Any particular solution to address this problem? Is this screw a must with this pistol? I noticed with the conversion kits, there is no need for this. Any effect on accuracy if this is not used?

Ryan/Scott - I sent email but maybe your email is down or something?
