GSG 1911 vs ruger 22/45 which one?

Their magazine's capacity is 12 rounds. Will they produce special made-for-Canada 10 round magazines?

Well, that would be the only way they'd legally get them into the country.

I'm sure it would just be a simple matter of putting in a slightly thicker follower in the magazine so that when the spring is depressed on loading you can only put 10 in the magazine.

There has been reports of a very few GSG barrel bushings breaking off at the legs thereby allowing the recoil spring plug to come off the guiderod. The issue has been attributed to a "non steel" barrel bushing that can break over time. [However, that said, I have seen steel barrel bushings fail on 1911's in .45ACP as well resulting in the recoil spring plug going down range].

The fix for the GSG seems to be the installation of a steel barrel bushing which then negates the failure issue. I am told that the new lot of GSG's coming out of Germany will have steel barrel bushings. I put a magnet on mine & when it didn't grab replaced it with a steel Colt bushing and put the stock one in the bag with the spare front sites. Like I said above, my GSG 1911 .22lr runs like a champ.

Yes, you can replace the GSG 1911 barrel bushing with a standard 1911 barrel bushing. I replaced my GSG bushing with a steel factory Colt barrel bushing. It went right in with no fitting or other tinkering required. It functions just as it is supposed to with the stock GSG barrel bushing installed.

I haven't heard much about the Browning at all and I'm looking forward to finding out more about it. The Colt .22 1911, to be clear, is not manufactured by Colt at all; but rather is just another Umarex/Walther product that uses the Colt name under license, just like the "Colt" M4 .22 carbine.

Hopefully it will be a nice little plinker, but given the mixed reviews of the .22 M4, I'm not holding my breath on this latest offering from Uramex/Walther... Even if it is a decent and reliable shooter, I doubt the Colt licensed .22 1911 will be in the same price range as the GSG... but then again you never know... time will tell I guess.

I hope this will sell in Canada for a reasonable price, any of our sponsors having a date of release or sale price?

I used a Colt one because that's what I happened to have in the parts box. But I would've been just as comforatble using a Norinco steel barrel bushing or Springfield, or.....

BTW, I had my GSG out at the range again yesterday. Ran another 300 rounds through it. So, thats ~ 1,300 so far. Still running like a champ.

GSG for me

From all what I read (reviews) about the Chiappa, the Kimber and the GSG, this thread has me biased towards the GSG.
The Ruger also sounds very interesting but my club does have Ruger Mark IIIs for use by members. (Shot one last night, ISSF..... that was the range and the RO were set up for.)

That and the guide spring can be put in backwards which causes this problem as well. Some people have jammed there gun because they put the guide rod spring in backwards. We do have replacement parts for them so if it breaks we will fix it for you or send you the parts you need depending on what is easier for you.

I have a GSG 1911 and a MkII Competition. For accuracy the MkII would win but for fun and 'looks' it'd be the GSG! The GSG is also quite accurate but not as accurate in my hands as the MkII. YMMV.....
