GSG STG 44 in 22LR Whats the big deal?

Should look pretty cool on the firing line with that norc Mauser 22LR mini haha.

Great idea I never even thought of that ! :dancingbanana:

its cause we live in Canada and get shafted with our gun laws, Would I love an all original surplus Stg44 SURE, but since they aren't exactly as available as your ruger 10/22 people want this, if they cant get a real one they will get as close as they can get to one.

You can get a clone stg44 semi auto. They are about 3000 bucks through Marstar. Original calibre. Original barrel length which makes them restricted. Questionable reliability.

Even if we could own a original full auto stg44, given the rarity and history very fee would likely be able to afford one.

The gsg is everything the bd44 is but reliable, cheaper to feed and cheaper to buy. Feels right in the hands.

What's the big deal about this gun?
I know GSG is a good brand and has fewer issues than other brands.
Parts seem to be all metal.
However did you guys read the specs?
9.26 lbs unloaded w/o optics
So you're going to have a 10+lb .22

Guess we will see the accuracy and ftf/fte issues when people do reviews.
How's takedown and cleaning?
Does it take a special scope mount?
How much are extra mags?

Sadly some stores won't have extra mags. Sorta dumb it you ask me, However atleast its a 25 round mag.

So again, what is the appeal of this rifle?

Why? Because Canada! That's why...

Don't forget being first on these new to market guns, usually means paying more then they will be in like 30 days once the rush dies down....
I remember the T97 frenzy where the pre-orders were $1050-$1150, and a month after they landed some places had them on for $850.

If this eventuality comes to realization down the road, then I'll likely grab one myself. While they look great, and I'd like one, I want to see what happens down the road with the experiences of those who grabbed one right away. And as to why people here would want one; I agree...Canada...that's why...home of suck hole gun laws.

No one here grabbed on right away. We watched the Anericans grab them for the last three years. There are plenty of reviews over those last three years. It is tried and tested and is still selling strong down south. Not sure what you expect to see different now that it is selling here.

So again, what is the appeal of this rifle?

It's a new non restricted toy/copy of a rifle that a lot of WWII fanatics don't have/can't get in a cheap caliber in our sad market.
Even a piece of dirt looks tasty at first when you're starving....

That being said I think it's pretty damn cool personally. Not for me at that price. I'm not a WWII fanatic enough to have to sell one of my guns to fund one but that's me.
.22LR is very cheap ammo for sure but the very limited range of the round and its abilities makes the novelty wear off really fast.

You make me a STG-44 non restricted in 7.62x39 though and I'll sell a kidney to buy that sum' b***h!

Just interested in what users this side of the 49th have to say. And, keeping my fingers crossed that the price comes down as we go further down the road.

I have the combo deal on the way from Irunguns. More for the "gee, that's pretty neat" factor than anything else. The novelty may well wear off but I like the fact it's more faithful to the original in terms of construction, weight etc then say the Chiappa M1 copy in .22. As someone pointed out, they've been selling in the US for 3 years so I doubt the price will come down dramatically here after the initial rush of buyers ( maybe $50-75 or so?.....I mean they are around $400 in the US and that's like $525 CDN or more right now ).
