Gsg stg-44 non-restricted rifle

Hello All,
I apologize for the delays and please note that we are in the same position as you.

I think everyone here knows you guys have done all you can, and it's in no way your fault that it takes the RCMP months to do something that should take a day.

What another cool gun we would want that should easily be non restricted that the RCMP will stonewall for a year or so only to deem it inadmissible to Canada ?

How true...nothing surprising here. However, maybe we can help things along if we pull a George Costanza; do the opposite of what we normally do. Pretend we are not interested in the gun because it has no coolness factor at all, and don't really want it. That should make them get it into gear and do in a few days what should only take them that long as opposed to the incessant stonewalling and year or more it takes now.

with all the cutbacks at the CFO & RCMP I'm not surprised at further delays.

Couple that with the influx of "new", yet to be classified firearms, I get a possible delay or slowdown. And further understand that the RCMP would never increase resources to deal with the increased workload.....as this just adds to the suffrage to gun owners in this country.

As I've always said, if the RCMP actually had to be as efficient as a private bureaucracy - it would have gone bankrupt years ago.

If Harper really wanted to do something small yet significant for gun owners, he'd give the RCMP a deadline for how long it can take until they have to give a final recommendation as to whether or not the firearm will be deemed NR/R/P. Leaving it in the hands of the RCMP is just a nightmare for gun owners.

The RCMP employ 26000 people 1/2 the size ,roughly of the Can Military still think they are overworked ?

Going from 2 of 5 to 3 of 5 for a staffing level here, yes. We're a do more with less force.
Which is sadly normal, we're running a LOT of vacancies and Depot is putting out ~300 cadets a year when we need ~700 just to maintain numbers. It's ok for the old overtime though, I guess...

I can't speak for the firearms lab, but they're closing and 'streamlining' other labs so who knows what they're up to. As for those support services, send me a PM asking just how "well" the registry works last time we tried to use it. It's more pathetic than you think.

Does anyone have an update on this one? I can't believe it's been over a year :(

It's an open FRT right now so it's a nothing class. They claim they haven't seen one so they can't say for sure if it's a prohib or not because they have STG 44 in converted auto and full auto class so they won't say what it is until they see one or get very detailed photos of it.

So, are you suggesting Blue Line hasn't submitted a STG-44 for review or are you saying the RCMP haven't made a determination because they haven't had an opportunity to analyze it yet?

The RCMP Lab has had a sample of the GSG STG-44 since September 2012. We are checking on the status of the rifle weekly with the FRT division and we keep getting told that it hasn't been looked at yet and that it is a first in first out process. They also tell us that they do all of the forensic analysis on firearms that are involved in crimes at the same lab and this is what takes priority over any classification. We would love to be able to import and sell these rifles to the Canadian public but we must wait until the classification process is completed.

Best regards,
Ryan Patterson
Blue Line Team

A person would think that with all the money the R.C.M.P and Uncle Stevie recieve from our hard earned tax dollars that they could have a small office dedicated to sort this problem out in a timely manner. They can call it the CLASSIFICATION DIVISION. I am sure 2 or 3 trained indivaduals could sort this out.Bring in a couple of retired types in a few days a week or whatever. I know the Govt is very quick to sort out any paperwork if I owe them any cash!

This is a bad idea. You think they would make it NR if the time ran out?
