bore measurements are to be made inside the barrel just after the chamber.

Did you make that up? Did you read a tweet? Or did you read that in the OIC?

Because if it not clearly spelled out in the OIC, then you are wrong, Bill Blair is wrong and every Fudd is wrong. The measurements will be done and prosecuted based on the language in the law. We have 100 years of legal precedent on every subject imaginable that tells us that.

Lots of statements up to and including the May 1 announcement of the OIC that no hunting guns will be part of the new regulations. How did that work out?

You were legal without measuring muzzle with no tubes. Everyone has a snit when RCMP or CBSA interprets law in ways that are unreasonable. Now some are in a snit even though the RCMP is saying their interpretation is in favour of reasonableness. Grow up. Shoot your 12 gauge and 10 gauge choke-tubed guns or not. I choose to shoot mine without measuring or worrying one iota about consequences.

As do I.

I'll shoot mine as well but I won't be under any illusions about what will happen if I end up in court. The law is the law.

Well said.

I am surprised someone hasn’t requested a calibration document for the calipers.

exactly!!

Every single opportunity to make life more difficult for gun owners has been used by successive governments and the law with the sole exception of the repeal of the long gun registry, a move that had broad public support because of the incredible monetary wastefulness of the effort.

What makes you rocket scientists imagine this will be different? 85 years of ever increasing difficulty and cost for gun owners? John, they are closing in on your hammer guns. Its too bad you all have decided to act as shills for Bill Blair and Trudeau. Trying to calm the waters instead of properly agitating them.

While I don't trust the government or the RCMP on the classification of firearms, I think the focus on whether or not bore diameter limits might infringe on hunting shotguns risks losing sight of the big picture.
Arbitrary rules affecting law abiding firearm users for crass political advantage is the issue.
While many seem to enjoy finding a flaw in the details of regulation, the real question is what is being done to defeat this opportunistic government. All other actions are a distraction from the task.
As I see it now, the Liberals have little to worry about.
The stunning incompetence of the Conservative party, Andrew Scheer and the leadership candidates is mind boggling.

Agreed!

How does pulling one's hair out over compliance to the 20mm edict help the cause? Does anyone shoot their gun without a tube in place? Its ridiculous to think that the measurement without tubes has any relevance. Is saying it is irrelevant somehow calming the waters or rather a stand for common sense?
If you had a single semi-auto then would have more credence than rhetoric. Rocket scientist.

You can do what you want and not be afraid but don’t pretend like it has anything to do with the discussion.
