Gun Ban

If they institute a buyback wouldn't all they be able to legally confiscate ( buyback) is the lower and upper receivers specific to the AR15 ? The rest are just assorted gun parts that are changeable and can be used in other guns ? My bolt action rifles use the grip and stock a non restricted modern sporter can use everything but the barrel if it's under 18.5" that is.

fact is they don't HAVE to pay us anything for our property....we have NO property rights in this country the 1st Trudeau made sure of that...lots of guns went to the cruncher first time around, others were Grandfathered...no one got a friggin cent....buyback is just a more friendly "sunny ways" of playing the same game...

Thats just it tho if they buy them back or just take them what legally is an AR is the registered lower so if the worse case scenario were to happen and they ban the AR15 just strip it down to the lower and go to the police station and turn in your "AR" Because people that just bought a stripped lower are now legal owners of an AR15 keep the rest of the parts off the gun and use them elsewhere.

Use them elsewhere for what ? Or do mean " elsewhere " asin , the USA or Mexico or perhaps one of the European countries that haven't completely banned firearms?

Military or assault style rifle....remember the last big round of gun reclasses when anything with a pistol grip becomes verboten but the same damn gun in a wooden stock was ok??? Think Valmet. When the rating crew looked at the gun pics everything with a black or pistol grip stock on it got restricted or prohibited. This could cover a lot of guns! Read: any damn gun with a pistol grip or black stock! They've done it before.

I'm guessing at worst it'll be any semi-auto, and at least any semi-auto with detachable magazine.
This, 100%. They'll start with (at least) the registered ones. The hunters with semi autos are going to rue the day they said "Oh, they'll never come after my duck gun!"

Uh noooooo... They're coming to my house and waiting at the front door at a time I specify to pick up my stripped lowers if it comes to it. It'll be a cold day in hell before I use my time and fuel to move their agenda forward.

I find it funny when people think voting will get them out of this mess. Has voting ever changed anything for the better? People vote to get something for themselves or take something away from someone else. It's pointless. That's why the majority of people don't vote. The agenda will proceed in the direction the money wants it to. Your vote is absolutely meaningless. A Conservative government will eventually come for your guns too. The writing has been on the wall for decades.

So why did the conservatives scrap the long gun registry?

Remember: the people of Canada are sovereign and the Parlement represents us.
(not the anti gun lobby, not the unions, not the big companies but only all of us Canadians!)

Stand up for your principles and vote for the best candidate and party (most probably the Conservatives).
Conservatives can't do miracles in the short run but they very well might in the medium and long term.
Finally, any law passed by the Parlement can be rescinded by it.

As a gun owner, hunter and shooter, I've been dealing with that #### for 35 years, it comes with the territory.
Lighten up, man up and just vote the best candidate.

Alex

So why did the conservatives scrap the long gun registry?

Because they fought it as a billion dollar debacle not a gun owners rights thing. They got our vote and appealed to the middle left with wasting less tax dollars.
The conservatives are not our friends, only less our enemy, when the time comes they will try to take our guns as well.
Then just like everywhere else in the world that has already done it crime and gun violence will not change and they still won't go back to letting us legally own guns.
All governments want an unarmed population that's drunk and high and fighting amongst themselves, as long as we keep working to generate tax dollars.
Why do you think the Turd legalized weed? It wasn't because it was the right thing to do, it was so he could tax it and society would be more docile.
It's no different than cigarettes, there is nothing good about them, all they do is kill you eventually but they're still for sale and over half their cost is tax.

Easy;

when you applied for a Possession and Acquisition License, you waived your right to legal protection from illegal search and seizure.

The CFO can come to your house at any time and inspect your firearms and storage without a warrant.

When you applied for permission to own illegal property (all guns are illegal in Canada, BTW), you became a second class citizen, no longer afforded the protections of the Constitution, or the Charter of Rights.

At least, that's how I understand our wacky gun laws.

how does the RCMP ability to search work when another police force has jurisdiction? can they get permission or do they have the locals do it (thinking Van, Calgary, Saskatoon, ontario, etc)

It wasn't PET, it was the provincial premiers who screwed us out of property rights.

And now look- you made me defend the 2nd worst PM in our history.

That is so right, trust a turd at your peril

Since the Liberal Government claims they will purchase you assault rifle at fair market value.
Does the CRA step in and make the payment's a taxable benefit??

Maybe worry less about what price the government will buy your guns back and more about taking action to prevent that from happening in the first place.

Lots of people seem to think it's a done deal - now we're just haggling over the price!

Entirely the wrong attitude - they're not for sale!!

PET turned it over to the provinces to decide, but he already knew how they would handle it or he would not have given them the option

You can't refuse to sell something you don't actually own in the first place
