Ahhh, Dickson and MacNaughton, my most admired gunmaker. Although the engraving on their guns is phenomenal, it's not the best part, IMHO.

I hope someday to posses such a fine firearm.

Yup, that round action must be nice to carry around!

As much I get annoyed with Meta & Google, their algorithm are pretty darn good at showing stuff I'd be interested in.

- Theophilus Murcott mousetrap gun... Looks like the wood has seen better days, but the metal is still impressive f(or something that's probably 150 years old)

I have yet to carry or shoot a classic Scottish round action but I can tell you that my French round action (Manufrance Ideal) is an absolute pleasure to carry afield. The pinnacle for me is the bar in wood MacNaughton round action known as the Edinburgh Gun.

This is my former bar-in-wood round action MacNaughton, or Skeleton action as the Scots call it.
It was indeed a treasure to behold and shoot.

Yep. Bar-in-wood guns are the epitome of insanity. "Hey, let's get rid of the strong steel stuff and match what's left to intricately thin and deeply-inletted woodwork. Pressure and vibration? Pffffft."

Beautiful engraving on the Dickson, the Murcott, and the MacNaughton.

That's a gorgeous Rigby. Wow!!!
I have a soft spot for Rigby as I once had one of the nitro double rifles.

After that video on the making of Damascus barrels, I couldn't help but be looking at such double... And kind of stumbler upon this guy.

- Engraved L.C. Smith Damascus Double Barrel Hammerless Shotgun

Don't know much about LC Smith, but the level of engraving on the barrels doesn't seems to match the level of coverage on the action

- Is it just be, or they they engrave the bars that lock-in the rising byte? (inside the action)

** Edit **

Never mind, just had a blonde moment... Had I looked at the Manufrance one post above... I'd had realized that these parts are not inside the gun, but rise to be flush with the top of the action when closed :p

Today's contender for the nicest rib...

I know it's not a shotgun... but there is an interesting article about WR building their 100th double rifle in 577

- that's less than one rifle a year.
