Gun post vs gun nutz

I have bought guns on both places.

The gun post deal have been excellent.

BUT, when I posted a WTB there, i got offers to sell me nice guns that I discovered were Google Image pictures and the sellers did not have a real FAC. (They had fake ones they had scammed from some poor guy in Alberta.)

Similar experience here, plus it’s easier to post pics, sort by manufacture, just quicker to make ads in general. Can reply directly to a message with email. I don’t see what there is to not like.

I’ve not seen any difference with the amount of tire kickers or low ballers between gun post and the EE.

Mods do an excellent job here to prevent the leeches. Then again with 12 feedback since 2005 so not a lot of experience in the EE to even determine that

If you look a little closer, you'll see that my last feedback dates back 12 years. That's because I buy many guns, sell very few. Also, because I took a few years off from GunNutz. And lastly because, as others have pointed out, Gun Post isn't trying to monetize the posting of photos.

You're a crusty old fart; and so am I. I have my own ways of doing things. Here in the EE, I will only look at the first post of an ad. If it's been bumped up, I ignore it. I won't waste my time with sellers who post at high prices and later post "price drops". Nor am I interested in seeing the same junk again and again.

An ad without photos will also be ignored. Links to photos, I can live with. For obvious reasons, you seldom see an ad without photos on #######.

The Mods are incredibly similar on both platforms. Almost too similar.

I forgot to post a photo in one of my gun ads on gun post and I was contacted saying the ad would not be posted until I included a photo. So I believe it is a requirement for guns. Might not be for parts. Photos should be a requirement on the EE as well. You don't have to pay on here to post photos. Learn to use photo hosting site and you can post on here without paying if you don't want a CGN membership!

Oh you seem to not understand you get feedback In the EE for buying them there also from sellers so you must have bought a ton in the EE wait now THREE

But nice try. Be honest your experience buying/ selling in the EE cannot justify your earlier comments plain and simple and that is the only point being made
Mods here same as gun post now that is Priceless. There is an old saying you know the one sometimes it is best to stay silent and leave us wondering you can add the rest

While I agree in principle with much of what you say, I like poorly written ads with little description and no photos, usually created by someone with no clue as to how to sell something. I think they often think they are "above" it. My reason? Sometimes there are little gems that are overlooked because the ad is so poorly done and contains so little info. I look for hints.

When I sell, I'm trying to write an ad and post the pictures that answer every question a buyer could have. Because I actually want to sell the item. LOL

Nobody has a real FAC anymore, so you'd have been scammed anyway if that was your only barometer. (I know what you meant and know you know, but language is important. It's the same as clip vs magazines.)

First time, though I am sure this has happened to many a potential buyer, I contacted a seller, he was out of town, was for sale some time, noted to me I would be the first one contacted to purchase, I reach out the date he noted he would be back both phone and email -- never called back -- and suddenly two days later sold -- so lost that one.

Second time, I offered what I thought was a very reasonable offer 90% of asking for a given firearm, the seller refused initially perfectly fine and understandable, though two days later emails me and call me voice, he will accept the offer, I ask are you sure, iIwant no hard feelings, and everyone is good, says fine -- great - matter of fact invites my 'shooting buddy' and myself to his club on the coming Sunday (this is Friday morning) to test fire (I did not ask for this, but he offered and wanted to) -- so fine. Cames later very late Saturday night, I get an SMS text message - offer off he changed his mind; I had already taken the funds in cash out of the bank -- but he changed his mind.

I can full appreciate perhaps he was offered more money and people want to sell for the most they can get, but that too me is not stand-up, we made a deal and I would not break a deal and my word for very little money, remember I offered 90% of asking not like half price or something silly like this.

Anyways, I prefer to buy NEW now, since I find purchasing 'used' is not 'stand-up' my word is my bond - but that is me personally each to his own I guess.

I did manage to purchase this firearm 'NEW' at not that much more, but when you make a deal -- make the deal -- do not backout of if you have to -- present the facts to the potential purchaser -- I am sure in most cases people will understand, I know I would - I just do not like being told -- deal off, and see it listed on ####### for days after words, for sale, and I am left holding the money -- oh well - lessons learned.

I have bought items on GP, but always phone the sellers before making a decision. Phone calls are cheap and hopefully gives an indication of the seller's character. I check it several times a day as I do with CGNs. So far, all is good with GP.
 
I’m on GP but have never bought or posted anything for sale. Know of two that have been scammed out of a pretty large amount of cash through EMT. Nutz has lots of members on post but I’m not willing to chance anything on GP. Gunnutz seems much safer as long as the trader rating is established and a few common safety precautions are followed.
 
My goto is CGN EE but I've bought and sold on GP.

I've sold several rifles and pistols on GP and the last pistol was sold on GP because CGN EE would not allow me to sell for my Father. I was not going to lie to the buyer nor be deceiving in my ad. For the buyers on GP and CGN EE I post a whole lot of pictures and more if requested. Provide current date and time from either my G-Shock watch or computer in the background of the pictures to reassure the buyer this is my item and not something pull off the internet. We've also exchanged phone numbers with the buyer and spoke on the phone to reassure this deal is legit. I always indicated the same ad is posted on CGN EE, except my Dad's pistol, and a link to my Feedback Trader Rating.

As a buyer off of GP, so far they have all been local sales and FTF on reloading components and hoarding 308 factory ammo.

For me when it comes to buying items off any exchange forum it's the Buyer Beware motto and go with my gut feeling.

I use them both,
Had lots of luck with both.
Sure wish that gunnutz had a system like ####### to post pics.
A few of gunnutz moderators need to be eliminated.
They think that they are god.
SOME OF THE MODERTORS ARE REALLY GOOD AND HAVE A GOOD HEART.
Not trying to be mean just fair.
Sure wish i could e-mail the big boss at gunnutz!!!

While crappy, neither of those are an indictment of the Gun Post platform. Both could easily happened on the EE as well.
 
I've had good luck on GP both selling and buying. I do like the ease of picture posting on GP. I also always make sure to have a phone conversation when buying and selling on both sites to make sure that both I and the person I'm dealing with are on the same page and that the I'm not getting scammed when buying. Pretty easy to tell if somebody is lying. I do not heave a team membership here so posting pictures for EE adds and threads is very tough.

Sure, we all have our methods and motives. I made great hay in the early years, attending auctions and shows, and discovering obscure web sites. Many of my interests have shifted since then. For example, after acquiring excellent condition examples of all of the classic American SxS makers, I had aged enough to prefer the ergonomics of lighter models with round bodies, such as the Italians and Spaniards are making these days. These kinds of evolutions take people to alternate and other markets.
