I've made some headway on my bench. That's a ¾" plywood on top, screwed down to the outer frame, plus two 2x4' running the length in the middle. The cheapo sawdust board is under the plywood.
The legs are all screwed to the floor or wall. I bought a sheet of shop grade oak plywood for the top two layers and the tool mount pads. Since I've given up reloading artillery shells for the Canadian Navy, I think this bench will stand the test.
I am going to do some serious "considering" before I start hacking up the oak.
I think I will be building some new drawers. The ones that came with the bench are good for nothing.
