Gun room - pics

I've made some headway on my bench. That's a ¾" plywood on top, screwed down to the outer frame, plus two 2x4' running the length in the middle. The cheapo sawdust board is under the plywood.

The legs are all screwed to the floor or wall. I bought a sheet of shop grade oak plywood for the top two layers and the tool mount pads. Since I've given up reloading artillery shells for the Canadian Navy, I think this bench will stand the test.:p

I am going to do some serious "considering" before I start hacking up the oak.

I think I will be building some new drawers. The ones that came with the bench are good for nothing.

those Canadian Tire benches aren't worth a pinch-of-poo... your going to find that you build so much around it you might as well have just built the bench from scratch.

the room looks awsome tho, not too many folks are lucky enough to be able to build their gun room inside of a concrete tank... here in MB the cisterns are under the basement floor, I've known a few folks who jack hammer open the "lid" and put stairs in...

Looking good KJohn. Maybe you will have a shelf above it for your gun/reloading books, and maybe even slip in the odd outdoor, historical/adventure type book!!

And MudChucker, that phraze you use, ---"those Canadian Tire benches aren't worth a pinch-of-poo..."
I civliized that phraze long ago, so I can say, or write, it anywhere.
I simply say it all-- "It isn't worth a pinch of coon manure."

Well, you are right about the CT bench, but it did give me a shape to build around! The room is already too small, as I have over 200 long guns and 25 or so handguns, plus a lifetime of collecting, reloading, and other stuff. I have another room where some of the "lesser" guns and misc. will go, as I don't really need them nearby.

H4831: I will definitely have bookshelves with "adventure/history" type of books, one or more written by an old guy I've come to know that lives around Salmon Arm.;)

Here's what the place looks like this evening. I am taking my time and contemplating just exactly what does need to be in here and within easy reach.

Zig11: I took your advice and bought some rubber floor stuff at CT. It wasn't on sale, but it sure is nice to stand on. Thanks!
