In Somalia you can get an AK for a couple cartons of smokes. Move there if you want. In the mean time, compare apples to apples. Your idea of valuation means nothing to anyone but yourself and anyone that specifically asks you for your opinion. Whatever someone can sell something for is what sets it's value to the purchaser.

No, gun shows have some deals, but it's not a bargain basement clearign house. There are more firearms in the US than in Canada. Thus there ar emore used firearms in the US than in Canada. More supply = lower prices.

Supply and demand baby, If it costs them to be in the gun show, and they don't sell anything due to high prices, they will loose money, and if they are not into loosing money they will not be back. People must be buying because the sellers are still showing up at gun shows.
 
Some stuff is ridiculous in price but there are deals to be had. I saw a real nice pre-64 94 carbine at Irishtown last spring, the guy had $275 on it. I heard a couple dickheads ask if he would take $200 for it. I intended to drift back around and buy it for $275 and flip it or use it for a trader but like most deals at gunshows, it was gone when I went back. No trouble to get $450-$500 for a nice pre-64 on the EE.

For the umpteenth time, we DO NOT keep copies of customer PAL images on file. We do keep your name, address, telephone number and PAL information in a close database for the purposes of warranty coverage, as well as for ease of future transactions.

This IS NOT a back-door registry, and this information IS NOT available to the RCMP, the OPP, or any other legal body without a judicial warrant being written for its acquisition.

Sooner or later people will get this straight.

Now, this is a little off topic but it bears clarification.

You keep the information but the police need a warrant to get it. Is that the same thing as not keeping it thus being impossible for people to obtain?

I think it was Jxx I spoke to over there - best I can remember. I was ordering a PX4 INOX I provided by phone my PAL and address place of birth etc. Jxx wanted me to scanned/faxed a copy of my PAL - (also the member's club... I think). I did but thinking back about it, I call Jxx back and inquired as to why they need a scanned copy of the PAL and I was informed it was for their database records. I had specifically asked him about the picture record and he agreed. I have made purchases elsewhere and all they want is the PAL# address etc. I had indicated to Jxx that this is not done in AB and one other in MB. His reply was that I take this up with the Ontario CFO and the OPP.

I requested that all my information be destroyed (PAL, credit card #) and any record of the intended transaction deleted. He agreed. I am unsure if this policy has changed but it was true at at least at that time.

I have no issue with the LEO having the info - they have it anyway (restricted firearm). There are privacy concerns with merchants holding on the PAL and credit card info. I know all the cards are chipped but etc but this was disquieting to me. You indicated that they kept the records in a closed database but my problems is that I really don't have any idea who has access to the information. When I make any purchase from the Apple store I do so with cash for the same reason as they like to keep you credit card and email info on record and every time a purchase is made with that credit card they send a thank you message to you email inbox :). Some like it but I don't. My day job is in the network and security field but in real life I am pretty low tech and have an aversion to anyone keeping information about me.

I am never had a brush with the law but any time I refuse to give information the guys on the other side look at you as if I have a criminal record. One case I was buying dust off aerosol and the guy wanted my name phone number and address for their records. He had to go and ask his manager if that was possible... and I don't think he was a new employee... goes to show you that many people have no issue giving out there information. I really don't have any animus towards Elwood Epps, I just disagree with the policy that is all Harrier. Seeing that the site is doing brisk business I am sure most will disagree with me.

Try tradex. They have some Zastava`s M98 6.5x55 in stock. Nice swede.

I'm not meaning to hi-jack this thread, but I for one am really happy with Elwood Epps system and service.
With all my info on file I can complete a transaction in a few short minutes without the hassle of repeating everything ad nauseum.
I buy a lot there every year with complete satisfaction... :)

Why would they? They no longer have any legal requirement to keep that information on long guns.

Needless to say this is a piece of crap ghetto pistol. Mostly everyone knows what the pistol is so I will forgo further description of the firearm. New price should be absolute MAX $190. Is this because some bonehead thought he had an antique on his hand or did the price just rise because it acquired magical properties because he used it?

Very good pistol which rivals the Glock and M&P pistols and some may judge is better than even the Glocks and M&Ps. I am all for a free market but some of these prices are ridiculous. In the US you easily pick up a used firearm for 50%-70% of the new price (70% if at a retailer). At US gun shows they compete with each other to sell their guns and are happy to trade etc. At Canadian gun shows I see prices that range around the 90% - 110% mark. As one Canadian put it to me “Why would I sell it to you for $### when you can go around trading it and looking for a good deal. I can do the same you know.” In the States the sales are brisk whereas in Canada people mostly look over guns and that is about it. I am sure there are exceptions to the rule and someone will cite the exceptions … I got a brand new Weatherby Crown custom for $1000 etc but this is not the norm.

Price of used guns (not just at the shows but everywhere), make it easier to but new ones, that's why the last 3 in my case are all hand picked in the box!:rockOn:

I have to agree with you on that one, it also makes me go to Cabelas online and order them when I compair prices. That free market thing works both ways.
 
You must have got one made on a friday, my CZ 550 standard in 416 Rigby is about perfect in every way... JP.
 
I love going to gun shows. Lately, I've been helping a dealer and he gives me a table for my own stuff in return for helping. I have scooped some fantastic stuff at gun shows, both from walk-in sellers and from other tables.

The fact that some of the fellows with tables have high-priced stuff has never stopped me from going. Some of the older guys are a walking encyclopedia of info. If I want a firearm assessed, all I have to do is walk down the aisle and ask.

One post above talked about finding old stuff - ammo, etc. I have come home with some great treasures! :)
