guns for sale

Yeah mine took like 2 days, i wasnt sure what to put for reason except wana buy used guns. I didnt think it that bad first i thought it was a little weird but this way you gota read the rules which is a good thing.

it was a long time ago but i only remember mine taking a day or so, but in that day or so i got to surf the forums and help me figure out what i was looking for when i got in to finally buy something. i did not even really notice the wait

Realistically, I only said 7-10 because that's what I often hear from others (and a good surprise is always better than a bad one). Personally I think I had mine the next day. Keep in mind the mods are pretty busy, cat herding can be very hard work.

Thats not very appropriate haveing a smiley pointing a gun at that character. That being said the EE section is awesome I have had some bad experiences at gun shops (probably due to my age) but I found what I wanted and I love my para ssp.

Getting access to the exchange forum is not the easiest thing to do on this site.. I think it chases more away then helps.

And thanks for your input also S.B. I tend to disagree with you, but I imagine a lot of people do.
As for curtmg's comment. I do agree that it is easy. If you know where to find the directions.
Most of the guys that I know have joined to buy a gun. They join and then can't access the EE. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Also 7-10 days is a bit long. 48 hours would be understandable.

I don't recall anyone saying access should be automatic. Application should be though.
As for 7-10 days. Ia m just using information from curtmg.
And yes, I will volunteer to approve EE access.

First of all, we need some sort of control to limit, deny, or remove problem people from the EE Forum.

The EE forum is a privilege to use, and not a "Right" of membership here...............abuse that privilege and you will be removed.......;)

There have been many dishonest members/ scammers removed for these forums. Also if you are not abiding by the EE Forum rules, there needs to be a way of dealing with members who constantly violate the rules.

Having members apply for, and receive permission to view/use the EE Forums is the best way.Violate the rules and your access may be removed.

It is easy to obtain access for the EE Forums.People just have to look for the info themselves and not expect everything to be handed to them.If you want something, do a little work for it............

There are numerous "stickie notes" posted in various forums explaining how to join the EE Forums, and why you can not reply to ads......................I don't know how many posts I see, or how many PMs a day I get asking how to join,or why can't I reply in the EE Forum..............Sorry, but we are not here to hold your hand and do everything for you..........effort is required on your part..............IMHO, it seems like a lot of people are just being lazy...............

As for the length of time it take to get EE Forum access, the time frame varies....................It could be the same day, or up to a week.

We Mods have lives and jobs outside of CGN and aren't here 24/7...........if you haven't received access by the time seven days has rolled around, then contact a Mod and see whats up..............also not all Mods are able to grant EE Forum access...............Patience is a virtue and will be rewarded.......;)

Lastly, we don't take "Volunteers" for Moderators, or to do their jobs..............Mods are picked from members who have shown to be honest, upstanding, and of even temperment among other things. They are screened and voted on by the Admin.

Not always. One of my good friends was looking to join/gain access when he was looking to get started in firearms. He didn't hear back for a couple of weeks, gave up, and bought something new elsewhere.
Do we really need to cater to those that are in a rush to get a gun? I don't think that is what this web site is about.

CGN is first and foremost a community to discuss the hobby we all enjoy. Being able to list stuff you want to sell is just a bonus and keeps the rest of the forum neat and tidy.

I see no reason that new members should have rapid access to the equipment exchanges. CGN makes no commission on the sales and people joining and only using the EE don't add anything to the community here. Don't just be a lurker, join in on the conversations and learn something new.

Not everyone is interested in the equipment exchanges just as not everyone is interested in the Off Topic forum or the Hunting forum or the Shotgun forum or the...

Maybe have the instructions automatically popup with each new registration.

Also 7-10 days is a bit long. 48 hours would be understandable.

Am I the only one that sees:

Equipment Exchange
Click Here for Access Permision, Rules and Guidelines

It does "pop up" right away in the main forum list. I don't think we need a big arrow pointing to it. Is it really that hard to look over a new forum that you have joined and read something before clicking the mouse? Take a look around and see what is here before clicking.

Oh hey they have forums on handguns, oh cool, and a forum on reloading, that sounds interesting, oh and a forum title equipment exchange. That sounds like they would have listings for gun related stuff. Oh and there it says click here for the rules and access... hmmm... I think I will click there. That was easy. This is so easy when I take the time to read instead of just clicking the mouse like it is a video game. This might be alright!

:p

If you are only here to buy a gun or see what is for sale online you can check out other web sites that only sell them and don't have forums. Valley Guns comes to mind.

I take "a couple of weeks" to mean at least 2 weeks....................I find this hard to believe.................I approve new applicants for the EE Forum at least once a week...............more often I check who has applied every three or so days (as I know other Mods check as well)............................

So i find it hard to believe he waited that long............it was more likely one week he was waiting and got impatient................

Access and use of the site and the EE Forums is FREE!!!!!!...................I don't see why some members get so bent out of shape if they have to wait a bit for approval.................You have to wait for firearms transfers, licence renewals and such.....................sometimes for months.............................so really, what is the big deal????????

paint dry's faster.try supporting your local gun shop or fellow shooters at the range

I do not understand this comment.

You are not a member of the EE area.

You have not applied (there are ZERO people waiting)

That said I have made a note not to process yours until my paint dries should you ever decide to apply.

I'm fine with a waiting period, but ...

The waiting period is fine, but could that be noted in the access info section? I only joined CGN a few days, so I understand the whole vetting thing. But until I found this topic, I had no idea what had happened - I had assumed it would be within 24 hours.

As a newbie it seems to me that I read the same type of attitudes from those who want to take our privileges away. You form a group then the classes. Have information available but keep it hidden. This is not the way to encourage supporters!

I agree (in part) that some of the info is a little dificult to find sometimes (i just never notice "stickies" and a lot of FAQs are spewn around different classes) But nothing is hidden. It's obviously not intentional. Rather just a little lacking in layout.

I do agree with a previous statement by Stormbringer that it deters the "wrong kind" of visiters as most trolls and little kids wanting to talk about thier advanced gun knowledge are just passing by and won't take the time to learn how things are done around here and forget they joined and never come back.
