H&K G36 Civilian announced HK243 S SAR and TAR

Because I was around when we had FALs, HK91s, Galils, Augs etc etc…nobody bought them in any quantity…we all had 20" ARs and maybe an SP1 Carbine for ####s and giggles, but we were generally made fun of…when C68 hit was when short ARs became popular …

For the basic version. If you want the fancy features like a flash hider, I'm betting it's closer to $4500. Calling it now to save people the disappointment.

Entirely possible, why mine will come from the us courtesy of irunguns. granted of course it is classified as a non restricted, if it is restricted forget it, I will just source a 416 top, maybe a 416 lower as well, and simply run a geissle 416 trigger and be done with the 556 game altogether.

For the same reason more people drive honda's than Ferrari's

Looking at costs of a MR223/556, some hondas are gonna be more expensive than ferraris i guess. ;)

The msrp of this gun in the us is approximately $2000 so around $3000 here, the mr556 is 3000 in us, and mr223 is 3500 and up. Just saying.

Simple truth is for most users the ar is enough. It's easy and cheap to maintain, parts and accessories are everywhere.

The Scar 16 to me is a bit of a joke, it's not really doing anything a good ar isn't for less. The SCAR 17 on the other hand is a different story. The ACR had many many many issues initially, whether they have all been resolved or not is unknown, and at least in the case of the ACR it's unacceptably heavy when compared to a g36, SCAR, or AR.

So it will accept a G36/SL8 Barrel? If so, anyone can order a SL8 20" heavy barrel from Wolverine to make it non restricted.

IIRC in order to be considered a non-military rifle the barrel had to be different than the G36 (and the SL8 as it uses the same trunnion design as the G36) so the barrels are not interchangable; but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

I think in the original blog announcement of it, they said the trunnion was different in design.

I have $20 that this will be 4k or +/_ 20%. As we all know we only have 2 importers and they like to make a buck on their investment.

Just read OP statement :"Also street price tends to drop eventually once sales slow down".
Just like the P7M8s ?
I think you guys have it completely wrong. Wish i'm the wrong one but ......

We might see them here, if they do not advertise them as being based on the hk93-prohibited, other wise the lab will list them as a variant.

If we do get them here, would be real nice to shoot one, but the price will keep me away.

Wha?

The G36 is not based in any way shape or form off the HK93 or HK91. They do not share even a single component except for ammunition.

There are ALREADY non-restricted and restricted (actual) G36's in the Canadian hands, from movie companies bringing in the Semi-Auto G36-P models.

Because the G36 was designed completely as a new rifle not directly modified from another gun (although you can say it shares very minor inspiration from the AR180B due to the short stroke piston) it would require an Order in Council for the G36 to be prohibited.
