Man, I can't find any discussion on the HK53 anywhere. The HK53 is one of my, if not favorite black guns. Why is it not as popular? And it's big brother the HK33. I know it is not current, but neither are a lot of other older rifles. Is it lack of availability? I have not seen any for sale other than out of US sites. If they are available, I would like to get one(semi only model) when I eventually get my RPAL. Also, with the HK33 is there a semi only model available that is NR.

Those rifles don't get alot of chat time because they're 12-5 class prohibited. Basically, the federal government has made them less useful than a paperweight. If you don't have a prohibited licence, you're not allowed to purchase either. And no, you can't apply for a prohibited licence, you either got one in 1995 or you never will.

I'm not completely up to speed with the prohib regs, but aren't prohib rifles pretty much expensive paperweights since the powers that be don't allow us to shoot them?

Ya, blah, HK stuff, yuck.....:D

I know I can't get the prohibited licence. I figured as much for the 53, but was hoping that a semi auto only version of the 93(33) may be available as a NR or R. Doesn't look like I will get the pleasure of adding one to a collection any time in the forseeable future. Will hope that I get a chance to guest shoot one, from someone else's collection, someday. :( Thanks folks, that definitly explains the lack of chatter here about that model firearm. Too bad, I think it would make a great collector piece. And I will now continue my hate of Canada's Gun Laws. Thanks again all.
