Hey All

Ok so my question(s):

First) are they Not available in Canada?
B) How much new/used (If I can find one)
3) Do they take regular AR mags?

Pretty much if I can I'd get rid of my AR next year and try to get a HK... Im a HK man what can I say.

Just some questions, and unless I can trade my AR for one of those this'll be happening sometime mid/late next year.

I've seen them new on CRAFM for ~4200$. They do take AR mags but don't mate with AR uppers/lowers(the receivers that is). Slight difference in dimensions to comply with German laws IIRC.

Try an SL-8 at the range if you can. Just another HK option. It can be G36'ed for around $1600ish. Not many SL-8's at the range.

I was going to buy one until I discovered it have proprietary pin locations basically making it non compatible with standard AR15. Then I also read that the mag well is not compatible with some magazines. So I cancelled my preorder at a local gunshop...they were cool with it, since the HK's still sold like hotcakes.

I ended up buying an LMT CQB/MRP piston rifle for over $1K less and I'm very pleased with it.

To each their own, I love HK pistols but the rifles I've seen so far don't impress me. Of course I haven't handled a G36!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Why is everyone obsessed with being able to un-pin their MR223 / MR556 and then pin it onto another AR 15? I just don't get it. If you were going to have three different uppers and use one lower maybe, but you still have to change the buffers. Everyone I know that has several AR 15's have the complete guns and not just uppers that they swap around on only one lower.

I think this swapping thing is way over rated.

The lack of standardisation just annoys me. The bureaucratic reason for it annoys me even more.

I won't pay that much for a neutered version.

Also the height of the gas piston affects sights and optics on the HK gun.

Most of the other piston guns have standard rail height

I fail to see how non-standard height and off-set pin affect anyones ....

No one complains about HK91 non-compatibility with G3. It is not the first time. If you buy a complete rifle, what does it matter really if the upper cannot go to your regular lower? If that's the case, why don't people complain Swiss arms upper won't go on AR lower....???

And non-standard height receiver - who cares??? unless you have to have that overpriced POS front site that attaches to the gas block. You better off just buying a pair off of regular rail mounted front and rear sights, and use all standard AR mounts.

Kinda of like buying a Lamborghini and replace the factory tires with some Motormaster all season tires, because you want to be able to drive it in mid December ;)

Non-standard height, big deal. The continuous upper receiver rail and RAS are a tiny bit higher than an AR upper. I actually perfer it over the height of AR's.
Get annoyed all you want over the movement of the pins, it was necessary to comply with German Federal Law, otherwise you would not even be able to buy the guns as a sport shooter. Good on HK for even bothering to make civillian legal guns, they could have said that it wasn't worth the trouble.

I'm not sure what neutered version means. A bit confused as the standard Hk 416 and Marine's IAR are exactly the same, without the full auto settings in the lower.

Here's another fact for you: the MR223/ MR556 have their 16" match barrels pressed into the upper receivers after the receivers are heated. A bit different process than the standard Military rack grade HK 416, done for increased accuracy of the civillian gun. The barrel nut is just a secondary means of securing the barrel to the upper reciever.

Here's another one. The longer mag well that isn't compatable with some mags like standard magpuls was done on purpose. The German engineers didn't like the way the standard AR mags were attached and felt it allowed for too much play with the mag in the mag well. They wanted to have the mag secured a bit better. Then they went and built their new HK steel mag. One of the best mags ever produced for the AR, only to find that it's heavy and when you throw them onto cement and stomp on them during training the feed lips bend.

I doubt that all of the other psiton AR's are "just as good". They are not and it has been proven in testing. If it's important that you save a $1000, then you've made the right choice, but you don't have a better gun.

416 Upper on the EE for like 10.5k

Now that is just crazy to spend that much only on an upper receiver. $5000 I would buy it(including lower with all parts), but that is more than it is worth even then.

Nothing against the seller, I'm sure he paid up the wazoo for her..
