H&k p7

Well, I broke down and took the plunge...just sent off the EMT for a P7 PSP roll marked "H&K HKI- Columbus GA" and "Made in W Germany" from the EE. Included were two mags, box, manual, takedown tool and cleaning rod. It's wearing wood grips and the plastic grips are also included. From the photo in the listing it looks like either a 6 or 8/87 production date. Now the CFO/CanadaPost wait begins.

Thanks for all the info and advice. it was very helpful.

Hope you like the pistol once it arrives. The roll marks indicate this is a police trade-in. The NDS in the oval is "Polizei Niedersachsen" or "Police of Lower Saxony".

The mark within the square is called the Bundesadler (Federal Eagle), a common mark found on German Federal insignia.

There is no stag horn which means it was not proofed at the Ulm factory but by the federal German government.

The Columbus, GA stamp indicates it was imported into the US and refurbished/reconditioned at the Columbus HK facility prior to release into the civilian market.

Check the piston once you receive the pistol. The edges of the rings should be almost sharp to the touch.

That is interesting information....thanks!

Congrats on the purchase! One more thing, you'll want to check to see if a gas tube cleaning tool is included in the kit, too, and pick one up if one's not.

Is that the nylon brush that looks like a test tube cleaner? Was that the gas tube cleaner? I always swabbed with a Q Tip when I had mine. Duh!
No—it's an all-metal piece for scraping the inside of the tube:

I found a Youtube video where the guy said a .30 caliber bore brush works if you don't have the tool. Thoughts?
I was in a similar conundrum when I bought my P7 and posted the question of whether I needed one on hkpro.com. The nearly unanimous consensus there was that it was essential and other tools wouldn't work as well. Since there's no way to repair a damaged gas tube I went on the hunt and ended up finding one one eBay.

Thanks, I decided to follow your advice and pick one up. I was lucky and found a US seller with them in stock for less than the Ebay seller wanted ($29.95 vs $47.50)

Nice! It's a small price to pay to keep the literally irreplaceable parts clean.

Yep, that's what I thought. Seemed silly to spend big $$$ for a gun and then worry about spending a few bucks for the proper tool to maintain it.

There is a boxed P7 in this Saturday's Switzer auction. It will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Congratulations, I was hoping to put an offer on that one, but I'm still waiting for my RPAL to be processed.

Looks like a nice specimen.

Thanks, I hope it's as good as it looks. It's in the mail and if Canada Post tracking can be believed it should be here Monday. Kudos to the NB CFO for less than 24 hour transfer processing.

No, they don't ( I have a US address)

You can get a complete tool set off Ebay (that seller ships to Canada) but the prices are quite a bit higher

Damn, Ill keep looking. Let me know if you know anywhere else that is available for Canada addresses. Sucks that hkparts.net doesnt ship here either, they literally have everything for the p7s even a new complete gas piston.

Just to be clear, you can also buy the individual tools (brush, scraper and disassembly tool) on Ebay. The disassembly tool is the one that is most dear at $100+ USD

I was watching the Switzer's auction today and was shocked to see a P7 PSP go for $3450 plus the 15% buyers premium. That's $3967 before tax and shipping!
Is it just me or does that seem like crazy, stupid money?
