Struck up a conversation with a guy I sorta know to see this morning at the gas station. I had 6 of my rimfires loaded up to go play. Asked about levers and he didn`t know. He said I have a couple real old cooeys. I asked how much? He said: "I won`t sell separately, $20 pair". They are rough, rough, rough.
One is a: Model 39(single shot). Barrel is rusted pretty darn good(22 inches long), no bolt, wood is exceptionally good...no dings or cracks at all!
The other is: Model 67 (single shot 22 short, long, long rifle) 27 inch barrel. It does fire(I tried it), couldn`t get the spent shell out. The wood feels almost like petrified wood. There is tape around the fore stock, not sure if there is a missing screw or something(haven`t tried taking the tape off, been there for years). The butt plate seems almost as petrified as the wood and it isn`t metal.

What years are these? The 39 is only worth whatever the wood, trigger, trigger guard, rear sight(missing the piece underneath it though) are worth.

He also had a beautiful Remington Model 572 pump, but wouldn`t sell it. He said he bought it maybe 20 some years ago.

I know, rimfireitis is bad...I just can`t pass them up. These two for $20...thats almost 5 beer in a bar where I`m at. I don`t drink and quit smoking back in Dec. I need something to spend my coin on.
The 67 action cleaned up real nice. Tore it right down and cleaned the crud out of it. The ejection problem was my fault, I loaded the shell in front of the ejector arm. The tape was just holding a crack together. I took the tape off and applied a two part epoxy and waiting to dry. Other than that, I`m leaving the "Patina" alone....that petrified wood almost tells a story!

I have a 67 barreled action if interested. Might have a few odd parts as well.
I`d sure like to find a bolt for this 39. I took the barrel off to inspect the stock. I just can`t believe the shape it is in. I really hate to part it out.
The 67 works great now after having a "bath in gun oil". The stock is dried up worse than drift wood. It would be Impossible to find a good stock.
There is not one number on this 67. I read that it pre dates 1945 cause it has the "short, long, long rifle" roll marks. Unsure exactly how old it is.
