Thought I'd Share..... My new baby!

How does it shoot?

Haven't made it to the range yet... it arrived last night....

and Yes, its the standard S&W External Extractor...

Figured I'd take a picture or two to post on the board before I soiled it with my dirty hands ... lol

Here is a pic of the Flip side

If it's not too much trouble, could you post an up-close shot of the barrel crown? I nearly bought a S&W 1911 a couple of years ago and the only thing that stopped was a VERY poorly cut crown on the unit that I inspected. Hopefully that issue has been addressed by S&W.

Thank you everyone...

Thanks Jeff.....

I'm pretty happy with the way it arrived, Thinking I'm gonna change out the grips to a set of Davidson "Horned Lizard" in black and grey like the ones on this Smith

.

Was also planning on (wife permitting) changing to a black ambi safety, and next year - getting it flat-topped and a nice set of low mount Heinie SlantPro sights installed (The Novaks are nice and all but I'd like something a little better).

AS for the question about the pistols crown - It is nice and clean.... I got no picture of it yet....

I'm glad you all enjoy the pictures...:)

I had one that looked kinda sloppy too, however it didn't affect accuracy at all.

They're nice looking pistols, but I can't warm up the the external extractor. Hated it when Kimber switched to the external extractor a few years ago too. A lot of companied "experimented" with them, but I guess there were enough of us purists still kicking around to slow the trend.:) Either way, you can't go wrong with a 1911. Hope you enjoy the new gun!

Range Report!

As for a range report...

Only had a hour with the new baby... enough time to get a sample of the break in period...

One box each of 230 grain Winchester white box and American Eagle FMJs - no issue, One box of Speer 185 grain gold dots - no issue (and a nice flash too!). Tried limp wristing, one handing and didn't have a single issue to cause me to question this baby! Ejection was positive and most cases landed pretty close to each other...

Fired the Federals as fast as I could get the front sight on the target and wound up with a nice 50 round group at 10 yards...
