Went in to buy a used S&W revolver today that I have been looking at for some time. After checking my PAL, the guy gives me the gun with the trigger lock on a and I start to check it over. The cylinder would barely clear the trigger lock when I opened it so I asked the salesman to take the lock off so I could further inspect the gun. He said no, I can't. So I asked him how I was supposed to check trigger function, lock up etc. if I couldn't access the trigger? He said you can't, after you buy it we will walk it outside the store where we take our trigger lock off and then you are on your own. So I handed it back and walked away. I then spoke with the manager and he said it is store (chain) policy not to let any customer handle a firearm without a trigger lock for the safety of the other people in the store with the exception of muzzle loaders. No wonder their used stuff sits there for months.
