Yes I have, only shot about 70 rounds from it, at 100 yards with black powder with the Williams sights it great for steel plate shooting like a tack driver in that discipline you aim you hit. Recent Buffalo shoot 100yard steel places got 10/10 standing, 8x10 sitting at that point it broke open so my nerves gave up, but could have easily got 30/30. Not heavy but comfortable to hold. Very simple firearm, top break load and eject. Broke it in with Winchester factory ammo and it was quite happy. A very simple rifle. Not badly made, damage the stock a little with cleaning solvent so keep any off.
Now the “if - buts”. The few things I found I had to get used to, the first major problem I had, which I still believe is my fault and needs to retested, was that it would not close shut properly on a number of cartages, I think my OAL was wrong, too long, and black powder compression to high, or my closing technique, so do not necessary think a fault of the gun, but you need to be aware of the potential, I had one shot where is opened after firing, scary. This design has been around since the late 1800’s so should be OK.
Williams’s sight worked well, but difficult to adjust as need a screwdriver to move, as a screw locks it in place, I leave mine locked in for 100yards. Tang site will not fit, no space.
For $500.00 incl tax I think it was worth it, it’s not going to do Long Range like a Sharps, but for most ranges and hunting (don’t hunt so out of my league here) should be ok.
Oh and does it eject, watch the face, the cartridges if you don’t stop them hit you or fly behind you.
Also make sure you get the 8 inserts for the front site as advertised on the H&R website, I had to request and did not come with the rifle.
