I just assembled my temporary upper, temporary because eventually I'll get some parts from buddy, one of them an upper receiver. For the time being I used an extra Norinco Receiver I had collecting dust. Unfortunately when I went to torque the barrel nut it was pretty clear that it wasn't going to be a nice gentle 60 ft/lbs to line everything up, but a good twist with the hand did. Since I'm using a Free Float Handguard that clamps on to the barrel nut I figured if I bridge the upper and the Handguard with a Riser it will prevent the Handguard from rotating and therefore the barrel nut from coming loose. I actually doubt I'll get the chance to shoot it till I get the other Receiver, but if I do I intend to!
What do you think, am I right in assuming that the barrel nut isn't going anywhere?
