Handgun Ban

This is the like saying I am glad the guy that just punched me in the face used his left hand because he's right handed.

What happened today is just outright BS.

If we have any chance to change this with the next federal election we can not afford to split the vote. The liberals must be sent packing.

Only conservatives can knock them out of the running. Voting for anyone else is a vote for libs

From what I have seen and read, the purchase, sale, transfer, or import of new handguns into Canada will be banned.
They will grandfather the ownership of EXISTING handguns. They gave up on the idea of given powers to the Provinces and cities. That was a non-starter, as we all know.
Finally, Trudeau admitted that sports and target shooting are legitimate reasons for handgun ownership by responsible citizens, but beyond that, no reason to own a handgun.
If this buys all of us a few years of peace, then so be it. All in all, this was not as draconian as I'd expected. It sucks that new people or our children will not be able to enjoy a great sport, but Liberals finally get that us law-abiding gun owners have never been the problem.

There are some that will be negative, and say that this is just the beginning of the end, etc... But I believe it could have been one hell of a lot worse today.
Just go out there and enjoy the range for now. We have earned years of peace today, let's focus on the present.

17 years on here without a single EE purchase. Is this the data icing account for RCMP?

FFS pay the fee !!!!!!!!

Absolutely, buy a family membership if you can. More votes that way. Only $15 per person to join...

thanks for the laugh. I needed that today.

This has always been the smart way to deal with gun transitioning, but I agree there are so many things they can do to put the heat on further, like they could stop you at your door; enforce a kind of collector status; or encourage cities to cut down on ranges.

What happens to gun shops when they loose the sales? Will one be able to buy parts? And who will be around to do the work. It is already impossible to get parts for hunting guns, it is cheaper to just buy a new gun. I am serious. Most barrels cost around 700 dollars, when they should cost 40-60 US (un-contoured). And they are mostly only available if one wants a barrel for a target gun. But the government has been stopping us from tapping into the US pool of parts for a long time now. When the pie shrinks it will get expensive to get parts. If you are dumping rounds as fast as you can, where do the new barrels come from? They aren't required to let you have one.
