Handgun for small hands

Sig P239-9 TAC, 9mm (40 & 357 sig in this model too) is small, single stack 8rd mag, 106mm barrel, night sights, SRT trigger, well made all metal construction (steel slide, alloy frame)... I love mine. Comes with 3 mags and is in stock at Questar as of a few days ago (where I got mine)... Manageable recoil for a small pistol too (well balanced), can't say anything bad about it... Girl we took to the range loved it.

That's grease in the photo's, it's mint.

(States 1 mag on the site, received 3, as the USA 239-TAC is supplied with)

CZ75 and 1911 do have small grips Sig 220 has a single stack .45 and has a medium sized grip that I love.

Stay away from full sized Sigs, HK USP, CZ97 as they are large.

Any thing S&W has worked for me so far (revolver and auto).

All single stack 1911s.

CZ 75 with ultra thin grips.

P1s and TT33 are slim.

Having a hand size smaller than a nine years old girl, I can tell it is NOT the grip size, the most of important is trigger reach.

Trigun

Very good point and DA pull weight can be an issue too "some people can not pull a 12lbs trigger"

Yup... tell me about it. Can shoot my GP DA, but forget about my Smiths. Too far and to hard, Smith's can't be beat in SA tho.

I got my grip strength with two tours in Afghanistan "lots of loney loney nights :p"

Now DA feels like SA :D

Makarov, 1911 or Sig 239. 1911 and 239 have great triggers with a short reach, not sure on the Makarov but I am sure it's small as well. I have large hands and my 239 is still very comfortable to shoot.

Reach may be longer on revolvers... the trigger pull is much tougher too. I had no trouble with my 686 with the beefy wood grips, but I have large hands so that is why.

frankly the women I have seen shooting like the Ruger SR9, CZ75 and a SigP226 with E2 grip....

somethings to note is if you can take her to a rental range and let her shoot some different guns.... recoiling handguns feel very different then cold guns, just because it is comfortable to grip in the store does not always translate to a great gun for her.

Range buddy's female cousin at the range shot my 239 and 220 and loved both of them. Both single stack grips... I think the 220 has the perfect ergonomics for almost anyone.

Kaylie shooting my German Sig 220 45acp (Norinco ammo) for the first time... hit paper at 20ft, a little more work on the hold and practice she'd be a pro! Don't think many would have smaller hands than she does. She loved that gun.

I have the FMK in my shop now and we had a prototype one out at a local ladies shoot in the summer and the universal reaction to the grip was "excellent". As well as a smaller size due to the metal magazines, the grip has a rubberized back strap which eases recoil and makes the gun feel even better in the hand. The trigger guard is relieved at the grip to give the trigger finger free access to the trigger without binding. This is even more important for smaller hands. The slide stop is also longer than most to make the operation easier for small hands. Lastly the mag release has been made longer than the gun FMK had on display at SHOT Show making for even easier operation and an even longer unit is in the works we are told which will make it even better for the small handed shooter. (If they become available we will be getting them out to our early adopters so there isn't a disadvantage to buying now.)

The FMK should be in at The Gun Centre and Ellwood Epps this weekend or early next week. Give Ben or Wes a call to be sure.
