Handgun Hunting; If you could, what would you use?

Ruger 22/45 for small game, especially while out looking for big game in the hills. For big game I would start on deer with a .44 Mag, probably in a long barreled (7.5" or so) Super Blackhawk or Redhawk. A full house load with a 245gr Keith SWC would be the ammo used.

I am not as interested in handgun hunting as I am in simple wilderness carry of my 5.5" Redhawk for animal protection while out hiking/camping with my family. If handgun hunting gets us there, that is fine with me.

One of my .22's (Buckmark or S&W revolver) for grouse and small game, my S&W 500 for big game.

Just a request, 911alertme and Win/64, don't post in this thread. You do nothing but detract from the post and start a possible derail as people that do support the concept handgun hunting respond to you (as I am).

If you're at a smorgasbord and you don't like an item or two, do you stand there and tell everyone that does dish some up how you dislike it? Threads on this board are like that smorgasbord, partake in what you like, don't partake in those you don't like. An unsolicited opinion is an unwanted opinion. Infractions should be given out to this types of negative posting in threads.

I'd use a 45 Colt Ruger Bisley Vaquero. Loaded reasonably hot, it shoudl be all I needed for big game.

I'd also use a .22 for small game. More than anything else I'd like to be able to pack a .22 when big game hunting with a rifle.

I would use small little .22 for squirrels and rabbits, that would be handy. Would also be handy for finishing shots.

A taurus judge .410 would be excellent for grouse and other small targets of opportunity, especially convenient for getting some fresh dinner when working/fishing/big-game hunting in the bush.

If you could handgun hunt in Canada, what would your choice of game, firearm, caliber, and perhaps even load be (if you're a reloader)??

My answer is a legitimate response to the question posed.

7.5" Ruger Super Redhawk in 44mag for some deer hunting. Maybe a great reason the buy a SW460 for some more range. A 617 or Mark II for small game.

It would be great if we could hunt with a handgun. Only problem would be booking another week off work for the hunt.

TPK, they answered that even if handgun hunting was legal they would hunt with a rifle. I think that's a fair answer. They did not say in any way that you or should not be allowed to hunt with a handgun.

Until the Angels Fall I won't quote your post and force anyone to see your post twice.

That is very uncalled for, Win64 didn't say we shouldn't hunt with a handgun, he simply stated that if handgun hunting was legal, he would still hunt with a rifle.

I'm quite certain at times I would as well, and other times I'd use and xp-100 in .308 or maybe a .44mag in a revolver, and I'd always carry a .22 pistol of some sort for small game.
