! Then we can 'work' on correcting the misconceptions and changing the attitude of the non shooting public.it appears our first hurdle in bringing this topic to a reality is to convince the skeptics and nay sayers in our midst.
It's really all about the hunters - unless it gets dragged into the public. That's why it's so important to show that enough hunters want it and that doing it represents political capital for the parties. They'll go ahead if it looks like hunters are behind it solidly.
As far as I am concerned if you own and shoot firearms you should stand up for all firearms owners not just your nitch little group.
Wasn't trying to give you a bad time. Just trying to indicate my groups were with iron sights. Actually the only handgun I presently have a scope on is my Remington XP-100 in .221 Fireball. My particular preference for sights on a handgun is iron but if someone else prefers a scope, so be it.Camp Cook said:As far as I am concerned if you own and shoot firearms you should stand up for all firearms owners not just your nitch little group.
I agree. In some cases we seem worried about our own particular concern and be dammed to those interested in other aspects of the shooting sports, and that must change. The least of my interests is 'tactical' type firearms, but having said that, I don't begrudge someone elses interest in them. It's just that they're not for me.
Myself for an example have been in a constant fight with my MP this last year fighting against his wish to ban lead shot for shotguns in Canada.
I know what you mean and I've been involved in 'discussing' firearms and legislation with local political candidates, especially prior to the last federal election. I don't know if it'll 'bear any fruit' but I let our concerns be known.
I hardly ever shoot shotgun (like Tom Selleck said in Quigley Down Under... I didnt say I didn't know how to use it I said I don't have a need for it") but I am out there fighting to keep lead shot from being banned. Will banning lead shot effect my life? Not for a flipping second but I am fighting for firearms owners rights and expect others to do the same.
Am I wrong to state that I am totally disgusted with firearms owners that through their close minded uneducated fears are against HGH...
Absolutely not...
Again I agree. The only time 'we' lose is when we lay down and quit.
I am totally for allowing handgun hunting and would back a stringent training course/exam program that would allow qualified people to have the choice to use a handgun.
I also totally back that law abiding specially train Canadians should be allowed to CCW as well...
My sentiments at this point in time would be to 'pack' for hunting but out in the open and not concealed. Again, my opinion only. Also I said I can get 3" groups with my Ruger SRH 454 Casull using a 2X-6X scope not iron sights.
I would wager most people don't care what we hunt with as it wouldn't affect their position on hunting much. For/against/don't care. Let's quit inventing hurdles and go for it.Foxer said:.
The issue isn't that people feel handguns are necessarily the problem - just some misinformation as to thier suitability to be used for hunting.
joe-nwt said:minorities[/I] (for a lack of a better word)get their way by demanding that they be heard, demanding that they be given certain rights and demanding that they not be dismissed! They don't care what others think because it's irrelevent to what they believe! So why do we have to cower in the corner, buying time and begging for support? Why aren't we demanding that we be allowed to hunt with handguns?
NRA has 3 million members and are the most powerful lobby group in the US. We have more gun owners than people who vote in Federal elections. Why the hell won't they join pro-gun orgs. such as the NFA or CSSA? Are they so incredibly stupid/lazy/cheap?
