Handgun sales?

Prices are on the low side even the dealers are ready to lower their prices i did some amazing deals on brand new firearms.

Auction house takes 25% of the hammer price. For example that Python seller would have netted $3937.50 based on a hammer price of 5250
Plus there are no reserve prices so if it's a slow day your gun could sell below market.
Yea, the auction houses take a thick skim off the top!

Yeah, when you add the seller's fees (25%) and the buyer's premium (15%) the house makes a 40% profit margin based on the hammer price.....and they don't have to carry any inventory!

Some also charge an extra 3% for "online" buyers. That covers any credit card fees.

Yes, i saw that.....$6037.50 with the buyer's premium plus tax and insured shipping.

The prices I saw at this morning's auction seemed fairly strong. The Manhurin MR88 went at $1610 plus tax, shipping etc. I actually have one listed on the EE for a fair bit less right now and haven't had any interest...... weird. Maybe it's just the EE that has slowed down? I wonder if members here are more in touch with what is going on regarding possible Government action....or at least more spooked by it?

Switzer had very good sales today. I noticed a few US bidders and generally bidders can get carried away.

Yes, there is no doubt "auction fever" can sometimes result in some pretty strong results. I have occasionally seen guns sell at auction 30+% over what I would consider their fair market "EE" value.

I can tell you even though I got my R-PAL I have really held off getting a handgun, it's not only the registration and ban/confiscation but the whole shooting club membership and ATT etc. It's just a huge turn off, I just want to bang away at targets on the back 40.

Damn I always said I could get a Norinco .45 or 9mm in 1911 config for $400, I'd take 2 one a present for a friend.

You might well live to regret that decision. I know I bitterly regret not owning what would become a 12.6 prohib back in the day.

I've had my RPAL for 17+ years and acquired my first restricted/handgun just last week exactly for those reasons. So, it's a question of perspective, what's a turn off for some, is a reason to go ahead before it gets even worse for others.

+3. In 1996 I decided to sell my pistols and FN-FAL because of the PITA implied by the gun control legislation of the time. Wish I hadn't, got back into it a decade later and cannot have a 12.6 etc. on my license. I've regretted it.

Nobody has to go out and spend a fortune, all kinds of cheap handguns still available for few hundred if you look, just to get your feet wet.

+4. I was born in 1996, so I never got the chance to get 12.6 or anything that came before it. Buy guns while you still have a chance to, that's why I bought a semi auto pistol even though I am more into revolvers.

I just sold a 9mm 1911 exc , tuned for 365.oo tax included, people went thought this crap in the 1990's chickened out , scared to lose a bit of money, now they can't play with short ppk's , FAL's or what ever.
I don't like public ranges, but up to last few yrs had my own. Just go buy a gun, any cheap of crap, if you are worried about the money, Ammo will soon cost more than the gun
There was a nice 1911 norinco on the EE yesterday I think? 45 maybe, but a gun guy has to have a 45, than shoot 9mm, and 232 for ammo cost.
