Handgun transfer wait times?

Purchase from CanAm took 5 business days here in ontario. That's a new purchase not a private sale. Approved yesterday.

Previously, new purchases would be same day. I can't imagine that the workload in ontario has gone up by that much.

I got a m4 shotty from b.c in First week of September the transfer took 1 day, been a week to transfer a czh 858 what a joke, may have to stick to Alberta purchases.

You do understand they are one in the same? What you need to wait for is your registeration certificate, aka proof of ownership.

My bad, yes I meant the paper certificate that I am required to have in order to legally transport this piece of future scrap metal even though every single record is stored electronically and can be accessed by any LEO whenever they want. That piece of paper.

Ontario here. Transfer took 11 days including weekend for transfer approval confirmation. 16 days transfer notification in the mailbox. Registration pending. It ussually arrives day after in mail. Guess we'll see.

How do you know when it's been approved? I completed a transfer of my first restricted. Do I have to wait for something in the mail or does the seller wait? Or can I see online someplace? Sorry for all the questions I'm just new to the restricteds

You have to call the 1-800 number and ask them. Or when you complete the transfer ask them to e-mail you the transfer notification.

Oh crap I didn't know that. Amd didn't think of it until after I was done with them lol. Maybe I'll call back tommorrow and ask them if theu can email it when complete. The. I assume they just mail the registration and I have to call to get a att for my range

Doesn't hurt to ask to add your email. But yes all the paper is saying the gun is registered to you and the certificate will arrive a week or two later. You cannot take the gun to the range without the certificate. The att (long term) is applied automatically after restricted purchase. So the only att you should need comes from the seller, in terms of short term to deliver to post office or buyer.

Great! So the seller can call them to verify it's sold then ship it to me that way it should arrive same time as the cert. Will the att cover all ranges in providing or just the range Im a membrane of? I've heard it used to just depend 9n their mood at the time lol.

Depends on your province, in bc the CFO gives a blanket 0:00-0:00 every day of the week valid for any range in the province. I think Alberta would be the same, but in ontario or Quebec would only give to the range yoh were a member of. Not sure how the changes with c42 effect it.

I wouldn't rely on the seller calling to find out if approved. I being a seller wouldn't bother calling to find out, id just wait until the notification comes in the mail. Now they will have to call to get the st att to deliver or mail the gun.
