Handgun Transfer

I'm transferring most of my restricted collection to younger relatives. I just sent in 32 transfers on paper forms. Now we wait and see how long it takes. If we could transfer electronically, a transfer should take about a second. That's how long it takes to transfer money after I hit the button. The computor does its part pretty much instantaneously, but online transfers are reserved for dealers, and probably not instantaneous for them either. It's also interesting that they won't even accept the form by email or fax (because it's 2022?)

Not my experience at all, bought online out of a retailer. N.S. On June 3, got transfer reference number a couple days later. Alberta CFO.... crickets !! Called a couple of times and was able to speak to someone to make sure all info was correct and my range membership was on file.

I wonder how many of them had to cancel vacation plans because of this...

You expect people to cancel set vacation plans so you can get a transfer quicker?

This service does not cost anything and contributes no revenue to the government. You get what you pay for.

I have three transfers in Ontario I am waiting for. It is what it is. The workers are not delaying on purpose or because someone told them to.

RELAX, everyone is waiting.

actually they WERE TOLD to slow things down by NOT doing restricted transfers on the license verification line, and that was told to me by a person on THAT line,so i just walked into my local gunshop, dropped $50.00 on the counter and the guy got on the phone and had my transfer done in 5 minutes,

And sounds like you were doing a private transfer, correct me if I am wrong.

IMO there should be a nominal fee for private transfers. And I really don't care if they process any private transfers, retailers should be done first.

anybody had a transfer go thru in NB? just wondering how long it took. been waiting 20 days so far and expected it to happen by now.

just found out my own answer...21 days for NB

You must work in the public sector.

The more taxes the better right?

I’ll bet he does. There’s been quite a few newer posters showing up here on CGN with scatterbrained ideas. A few have been returned banned with a different account and it looks like there’s more. This guy you responded to looks to be one of them…

Than why are you calling me a deadbeat?

"IMO there should be a nominal fee for proposing dumb ideas."

You are a deadbeat because you don't think you should pay your fair share for private transfers. You are getting this service for free.

If I buy from a retailer they are collecting the tax, which is a contribution and paying my fair share for the service.

You realize how big the public sector is, and the jobs considered public sector?

My employment has nothing to do with my feelings regarding taxation and people paying their fair share.

Ignorance is bliss so they say.

I am getting this service for "free" am i? The employees are voluntary staff who don't receive pay. Is that correct?

If not, who pays them?

I think you live in the land of 'Canada has FREE healthcare'.
