Handguns Worth Now

That's consistent with what I've been told by a guy I know who knows a guy, if you know what I'm sayin'.

I’m picking up what your laying down… everyone should know a guy who knows a guy, if you know what I’m saying..

What are all the $ 4000.00 pistols worth now ???
You talk as if this is the absolute end. There are people who bought apple stock in the late 1990s when it was under $1 per share and the prediction was that the company would fold.

No there is no value lost yet. the $4000 and that attitude, won’t even get you to join me at the range to watch me shoot them.

For a $4000 gun the market value hasn’t changed much. Quality guns get good money in the US and the current exchange rate more than covers the export fees. Top-tier 1911’s, BHP’s, less common HK’s, nice revolvers, etc have no problem selling in the US, sometimes at a premium even.

If you have common plastic guns/service pistols then the legal monetary value is near $0.

what would insurance pay you now if your house caught fire or your handguns were stolen I wonder....

Same as anything, they look at purchase price less depreciation.
You get money but cannot replace them -- at least with the current government.
I'm going to state in my will that handguns are sold to dealers who can export the expensive ones and sell parts off the rest.

I see asking price for antique revolvers have about doubled since a year ago. Probably because antiques are now the only handgun that can legally be bought and sold.

I agree with most of the posters posting on this thread that there is no value that can be placed on a gun that can't be replaced. Once you have lost it you can never have it replaced. So, it comes to this conclusion that it is priceless, because you can't have another one just like it, " It's like a Vincent van Gogh painting once it is destroyed you will never see another like it again, lost in time.

Absolutely ####ing nothing. If it's stolen your insurance company won't cover it. Can't insure something with no intrinsic value. However, legally, the OIC, if it is not signed into law by the Governor General before the next election, becomes null and void. Or another government can always change the law. So your choice is are you willing to wait or are you going to sell them on the black market? If you do sell them make sure you go through all the steps to thoroughly remove the serial numbers. Otherwise, if they're used in a crime and discovered you're toast. The choice is yours.

According to my local gunsmith, all sold handguns waiting in his vault are insured and cost about $20 per gun each month. The gunshop owner is really pissed because the very slow transfer hurts his profit every month.

Current value? Priceless. Not legally obtainable for any price. If you missed out, even at inflated prices, you missed out for a very long time.

Claiming a ‘financial’ loss of value for something that is still registered in your name and still possessed by you won’t wash.

Also sounds like a way to make a buyback super cheap. "It says here on your tax form your pistols are worth $5 in scrap metal"
