Thoughts, details and video forthcoming. For now:

Click for the biiiiiig version!

And the whole family together. Once again: click for fullsize!

It's surprisingly light for a .308 gun. While the Swiss Arms may have been the "tank" of the .223 world, the FAMAE is definitely the "scout" of the .308 semi's I've handled. Compared to things like XCR-M's, SR-25's and MR308's its a much lighter overall gun.

Optics mounting is interesting on these. They have a bracket for a pic-rail that essentially expands between two parts of the upper receiver to lock it down. It's certainly not QD, but you definitely don't have to be a gun-smith to install it.

There should be a video of the 542 shortly right here:

I'm guessing he's fondling the demo model at Calgary Shooting Centre. ;)

Once they arrive here they will be available for use as range guns. This is as hard a work out as any gun can get. They will be shot heavily and cleaned seldom. If you get a chance drop in and try them out. I will also take more and better pictures for those that need/want them.

Well the guns have finally been returned and are now here for display/trial. I will have more pictures posted soon.

Congrats, that rifle looks amazing. Unfortunately I will have to live vicariously through those of you who can afford these!!

I think this isn't his but the CSC demo model that he's gotten to fondle and written a review on.

So having played with both your Mini FAMAE and the 542 I'm interested if you'd like the folding or fixed stock on the 542?

How does the folding stock lock up? Is there a mechanical button type release or is it more like a XCR FAST and spring retained?

Kidding aside they look great. Glad to see they've "modernized" from the 540 pics I've seen on the net and have a ambi selector switch :D.

Still curious to know about that folding stock man, especially now that I see you've fondled a 543.

any vid on the .223 version in the non rest rifle ?

Why does R Taylor appear to make a gas system adjustment at 1:43?

On another note, come to think of it that does speak volumes on the adjustable gas system. Try that with another adjustable gas piston driven system during a firing cycle such as the XCR and you need calloused man hands and don't mind the smell of burning flesh :p.
