Happy New Year 2020! Norinco 1897 Trench gun Back in Stock! Only 299

Does that quirk with the pump cause problems when using it? It seemed that (cycling action, dry firing, not live rounds) that if you didnt nudge it forward it wouldnt cycle. I am guessing it must work OK in real life, because I haven't really seen much discussion on this.
T

You can only feel difference during dry firing. Recoil will take care of that.

With the 1897 the nudging forward to cycle was a feature that was incorporated by John Browning and I believe acts as an out of battery safety for the shotgun. It was a feature of the original Winchester produced guns and is not a defect in the Chinese replicas.

I’ve shot skeet and 5-stand with mine (also singles trap, thanks to it having removable chokes). Handle it with authority and it cycles fine. I’ve had other, ostensibly better, pumps that have caused me more grief on doubles than the 97 ever has.

Some cheap shells sometimes stick, but a chamber polish would probably help. I just shoot Score 1145fps target loads in mine and it never causes issue. 1200fps sometimes fails to extract.

if anyone can confirm the winchester bayonet lug & heat shield will fit then I am all in for one.

You may need to remove the bead sight first. The barrel is probably a little too thick for the heat shield to fit, so a fitting will be required. Same may or may not refers to the forend. You may need to make relief cuts there.

Thats not too bad. As Long as the barrel isn't too think to make the notch for the cross bolt then I am happy. I've heard speculation before that the barrel might be too thin make that notch happen.

This is a good video on the quirks of the 1879

Hopefully I’m allowed to post a link.

Thanks for posting a picture, I was under the impression that the initial picture ( with the other style stock) was what you were selling....

Ordered one too, and a repro heat shield/bayo mount. May as well make myself a trench gun replica!

I could be wrong but that barrel looks too short for the repro heatshield and bayonet lug. I also heard they have a screw in choke that leaves the barrel too thin for the notch required for the front screw IF the barrel is long enough in the first place. Again, I could be wrong as I haven't seen the gun in person.

Bayonet lug measurement

Here are a couple pictures of the Numrich part mounted on a model 12, and the actual ID of the lug before screws are tightened. Also be aware the screw notches will need to be fairly deep into the barrel. The top photo shows the measurement from the end of the mag tube to the end of the barrel.
