Has anyone tried installing this new scope mount on CZ858??

Way to go Snausages! Much better, but you'd have to admit that a video of my way would be infinitely more entertaining! lol

curtton, I'm glad the mount works for you. I'm interested to see what G-a-M's plans are for this mount.

IIRC you're supposed to keep that leaf spring in there.
I have a Scout Mount on the way so I will attempt to slam the Spring back in when it arrives...:p

Hey thanks! A video would be much more entertaining, but I for one DO NOT volunteer ;)

I am gonna make the CZ a winter project. Paint it black,Mod the Piston Cover
and see where else the wind takes me. I also wonder what Glock-a-Maniac has up his Sleeve.:)

Thanks for the pics guys, and the colourful stories. I went ahead and clamped it in the vice with a set of alum. and rubber set of jaws so the gun wouldn't move and still could not manage to remove the rear site. I was however able to push the rear site down low enough to gain access to that mounting hole I need so now the rest of my project can begin. I'll keep you posted.

Sorry to disappoint, but I don't have a video camera! haha I just hope that the reason that Matt P. was so "tactful" in pointing out a safety issue wasn't due to personal experience...

I got the opportunity to see someone elses CZ85 today and while comparing firearms, we made some interesting finds.

His gun had writing on the right side of the action while mine did not;

His had stamp marks on the left side of the rear sight while mine did not.

His safety switch goes from safe to fire around and hits a third setting which happens to be safe again while mine only moves between fire and safe.

His has a welded in block infront of the trigger group while mine does not.

His rear sight has a notch out of the front of it like the one in the pics in this thread while mine does not which might have something to do with the fact that I can't pull my rear sight off my rifle.

His rifle came with a short mag and four 30s all rivited with part of the rivit stuck in the mag while I didn't get a short mag with mine but the guide system at the back of the mag had some sort of rivit system through it.

If anyone can shed light on why the changes, I'd be intersted in know a little more about how these gun are being made and where.

sounds like you've got a cz-858 and your friend has a vz-58L.

My understanding was that the difference between the CZ and the VZ was barrel length making one restricted and the other not. His is NON-restricted and it's stamped CZ so I'm not sure why all of the changes to the exact same gun.

Has anyone seen the trigger group for an AK? and how does it differ from the CZ?

Trigger group for an AK is not even close, the CZ is striker fired whereas the AK is hammer fired.

IIRC the cz-858 is assembled by a different armory than the vz-58 (vz-58 is made by CZ hermex) and the VZ-58L is identical to a vz-58 except that it has a longer unrestricted barrel.

The main difference is that the CZ-858 is assembled semi-auto a different way than the vz-58 and it has a newly produced barrel which is not chrome lined. As far as the vz-58L goes, it is basically a longer vz-58. It is also made by cz hermex and neutered the same way. Its barrel is derived from a LMG type support weapon and is chrome lined (not newly manufactured un-chromed like the cz-858).

G-A-M:

Have you made any progress here, or is this another one of those good ideas that will never make it off the shelf??
