I just bought a remingtion 870 express super mag. It kicks like a mule with the high velocity shells. I was just wondering if anyone has tried the limbsaver recoil pads (or the rem R3's). I understand the mercury recoil reducers don't work very well. Anyone agree/disagree.

Thanks for your help

The limbsaver pad is the best money you will ever spend. I had one on my 870 Supermag and it totally tammed it. have one currently on a .450 Marlin and it's fun to shoot.

BUY IT!

I've got a mercury recoil reducer in my Ruger #1 .338 having bought it like this I can't speak to the before and after diff but it does add a chunk of weight to the package. The decelerator pad on there is the best recoil pad I've got on any of my other guns!!

The Simms pads are very good at reducing recoil, not as much decrease at a mercury suppressor though. If used together the reduction is very noticeable, but be sure to put a matel spacer between the pad and suppressor as the Simms pads do not have the steel insert like Decelerators do, and the suppressor can work through the pad

Limsavers work well. If you can tolerate the extra weight, the mercury reducers work well too. Combine the two as Rick suggests and your off to the races............

I put a slip on on my Fabarm Martial and a bolt on on my 45-70 GVMT....these work excellent. Fabarm shoots 3" Mags all day long ( a little loud though!) lol

hey backwoods, how do you like your Fabarm? I have a Fabarm martial with a 14" barrel on layaway. I currently have a mossberg 500 mariner and will probably sell it when I get the Fabarm.

I can't find Limbsaver pads on the Wholesale sports website. Are there any other suppliers? when shopping for a recoil pad, is it recommended to go with a grind-to-fit pad, or will a precision-fit pad, work?

fyi: to be installed on a rem 870

What about the Pachmyer Decelerator leather slip-on pads? I think they would look good on a classic wood stock. Are they effective?
