For the LAST TIME... the XD is NOT an American gun. It is a HS2000 from Croatia. Springfield only bought the contract to sell them as Springfield XD's.

It is a East European gun from a former Eastern Bloc country who is now no longer part of the Iron Curtain. Did Croatia suddenly become an American Territory?????? Get your facts straight before you start cutting things down with misinformed ideas

Well, Glocks shoot nice but they never jumped up and screamed "BUY ME" like the XD did. If a deal of a lifetime on a Glock came by I wouldn't pass it up but I am not about to go out and buy one just because it's a Glock. :)

At least the ones I have fired weren't a total waste of rental fees and ammo like that POS M&P we had the misfortune of trying. And two of us both hated it and the other guy was a Plastic Gun lover. :eek:

My most compelling experience with the XD was on the Tactical Response Fighting Pistol course in Chilliwack. Two days of rain and mud, my neighbor was shooting (sometimes) a XD 9mm, but he spent more time clearing stoppages than shooting. In fairness, the gun ran fine until the mags got muddy, then it ran terribly, with multiple stoppages per mag. My old Glock 22 and the SIG's and Smith 5946's on course ran much more reliably when they got muddied up. I don't like it, but big deal. If you like the way it feels and shoots, your life won't depend on it, and there is service available, get one.

But hey if you got one that works, good for you. Like I said, I've personally watched 9's and .40's s**t the bed at least a dozen times. those owners now own Glocks, Sigs and Smiths.

How did the XD's fail ?
 
My XD 9 has been great. Reliable, accurate,and It has never jammed.
I really didnt like the Glock myself. The XD felt better in my hand.
I really havent read to much negative about the gun until now. :confused:
 
Just did my BB course this weekend with my XD, zero issues aside from the instructor confirming (thanks Tritium!) that my gun shoots up and to the left thanks to the numbnuts previous owner who couldn't shoot straight, and instead of fixing their shooting style decided to file the rear sight (!). So now to find someone to install my new fibre optic sights...
 
I tried both the XD9 and the Glock 17... bought the Glock.
To each their own, but I found the Glock far more comfortable in the hand and pointed much nicer.
I especially love the XD guys who say a Glock is a Tupperware gun. Uh... hello?!!?
 
I owned and shot an XD-40 casually at the range and (also as casually) in IPSC (Production first, then Standard) a few years ago. I did not experience ONE STOPPAGE of any description with that pistol.
Issues were:
-The ejector tip snapped off cleanly sometime during the pistol's life with me (approx 5000 rounds fired)...I have no idea when, because the pistol did not miss a beat. I only noticed it when I bought an XD9 and wondered why my XD-40's ejector was about 4mm shorter than the 9's. John at Wolverine Supplies fixed me up with a new ejector within a few days....wonderful service, and I didn't even BUY the pistol from him! :)
-I had to change the OEM mag release button for an aftermarket unit because I had difficulty with the short OEM unit. If you don't make a habit of swearing, you will by the time you've finished swapping out the mag button assembly on an XD. If you do buy an aftermarket mag release, be sure to buy one that has a similar "face" on the button to the OEM unit. Don't buy a checkered one, because the button rotates when depressed on an XD. You will be nursing a very sore thumb by the end of an IPSC match with a rotating checkered button.
-The finish on the slide was sub-standard, but I understand that this has been addressed by the manufacturer.
-Service from both Nichols and Springfield is NON-EXISTANT. :( Had it not been for John at Wolverine, I would have been out of luck. For excellent customer service, buy an M&P. ;) Smith & Wesson have a profound understanding of Customer Service, and extend that to the best of their abilities to their Canadian Customers.

I'm now into my XD for 20+k rounds. I broke the roll pin at the top. John from Wolverine had one to me the next day. The slide finish is awesome and still looks brand new.
 
I have a XD45 and it shoots awesome. Better than I can hold it. It shoots any handload I stuff in there and all factory I have tried without issue. The only issue I have had is the feed ramp may be too short as I can't get SWC's to feed properly. They catch on the lip of the feed ramp and jam. Other than that, a great pistola and I am thinking of one in 9mm. My avatar pic is 10 shots @ 25 yards offhand, unsupported with my XD45. Several of the shots were overlapping. Not bad for a "double-action" 7lb triggered service pistol.
 
I shoot an XD-40 after about 2500 rounds the striker retainer pin went on it and I had a heck of a time finding a new one, when I did find a supply company that would order me in 3x16MM roll pins I got 100 of them and haven't had a proplem with it after that. I quite like it.
 
Just got me an XD in 9mm as my first handgun. So far, great gun, shoots real nice, feels comfortable. I'm not worried about service, I asked about the warranty and this is what i got from Questar:

All warranty repair for Springfield in Canada is through their depot in Quebec

But from the research I did, I figured that I probably wouldn't need any servicing, so i guess we'll see.
 
I have just got an XD-45 about two months ago, and have really enjoyed shooting it. I have put 600 rounds through it and it had been fed a few boxes of 45 ACP 230grn by it's previous owner, no failures whatsoever. It was the first auto my wife ever shot -- now, if we go to the range together, I'm lucky if I get two clips off to myself. She's been converted. Local stores are low on .45 ACP, though. Any ideas where I can get a reliable source of 230 grn FMJ or Winchester Ranger SXT?
 
Slavex is a bit "opinionated" and also happens to be wrong. Plus, I have no idea what he means by the XD guns "sh*#ing the bed"?? I am not sure what Slavex is stuffing into his XD pistols but he might want to try ammo instead! This "statement" is not too descriptive as to exactly what problems he might think he saw with regards to the XD products. It would be more helpful to those on this forum if he included specific examples, preferably without the crude comparisons.

Personally, I have the XD45 tactical and absolutely love it. I looked at the Glocks but preferred the feel and look of the XD. So I won't slam the Glocks just because I don't have one and/or because I am not a vulgar, ignorant fool. Truth is...I shot both before I got my PAL and before I bought my first gun (the XD45) and it turns out I shoot the XD better than the Glock. That is what it boils down to. Plus, I have had ZERO problems with my XD45 (0 FTE, 0 FTF, etc)

I am very much looking forward to getting my hands on one of the NEW XD M-Factor pistols to see what improvements have been made to them. It looks very impressive for now.

BTW...My brother who lives in the USA has 7 different SA guns including XD's, EMP, GI 1911, Custom 1911, etc. and he has NEVER had a problem with any one of them, and whenever he has sent his guns in to have upgrade or custom work done to them he has received EXCELLENT service. Now Canada might be a different story. I don't know yet as I have not had to send my gun in for any reason....yet.

No Slavex, it probably has MORE to do with the fact that all SA afficcionados are waiting for the new XD M-Factor guns to come out and be available for purchase.
