....that is impossible to find a gun manufacturer willing to put a decent barrel on a wooden stock. Not to pick on Browing but they offer a 308 Hunter with what they say is a 'regular' barrel, 22 inches long. They also offer a Varmint Stalker and Varmint Special with a 'heavy' 24 inch barrel but only in a laminated or plastic stock. Every manufacturer has the same thing....heavy barrels on plastic stocks. Personally, I would like a 30-06 with a wooden stock and a medium-heavy, 22 inch barrel...for hunting. Do I have to build this sort of thing and where would I start?
