Have you SKS lovers seen weimajack's current lot of unissued, non-refurbished SKS's??

Fresh out of the box. Thanks Jacques!

1955 Tula. Unissued, Unfired, Non-refurbished... a mint beauty.
It even came with a nifty cosmoline stained matte silver bayonet.

This is one of only three non-refurbished SKS's that I own. I also have a 2008 IZH import pin welded follower 1954 Tula, and an absolutely pristine 1951 Tula.
I do love my refurbs however, as these are what I shoot, bubba (a '52), and take into the field.

Nice! Jacques put me 1 aside, a 1956 laminate "k" non refurb and unissued. I dont say never fired because they likely have been proof fired before being stored. Now i have unissued 1950,1951,1953,and the 56 coming. Have a non refurb 1952, 2 1949 refurb,1954 and 1955 refurb(mostly stock change) and a 1956 beat up,non refurb, mismatched with iraqi stamp on:D its my shooter since long time:) Collection's going well, thankyou Jacques:D:D

Nice Joce! I have actually scaled back my collection, and will now focus on non-refurbished only. I am only keeping my '52 (Arma-coated) refurb shooter (all-matching metal), and my pristine, low serial number (OP0) '53 Izhevsk-- only stock change (because we all know how rare '53 Izzy's are). I am running out of room, as I also collect vintage hunting rifles, mostly custom Mauser sporters. I can't seem to convince my wife that I need a third gun locker!! :)

With 2 to 3 million made, I just can't believe they test fired each one... and went to the trouble of cleaning the residue out of the gas systems and receivers after testing firing... as all three of my non-refurbished SKS's didn't have a trace of carbon on them. However, when I say "unfired", I mean "unfired after they left the factory". :)

I will try this winter to have IZZY 53 and 54 then maybe i will try to find unissued Tula 54 and 55 but the refurb i have beside the renumbered stock are like new so its not a big issue. I may try to sell my refurb painted 49 but even with the spike bayo, will be hard to sell and not interested to give for nothing. We are lucky tohave such nices SKS's here, in US, they pay big bucks for black bolt refurb, i saw on GB, a 1949 with blade bayo, late trigger group, 1951 gas block, late cover latch, for sale at $750! ouch.....

Yeah, they're jealous, and hate it when we "invade" their forums and gloat about our cheap and plentiful SKS's.

I am so tempted to buy Jacques' 1953 and 1955-56 non-refurbished Tulas. You should pick-up his 1954. Talk about mint condition!

I posted my 49 from Westrifle on gunboard, pretty sure they were drooling:p The 54 Jacques have is tempting but i sold 1 of my polish M44 to finance the 56 and now i dont have much of my collection for sale, aside my painted 49 sks.... my bday coming soon, life's difficult, no gf to spoil me :p

Personally, I would look at "no gf" as an advantage! ;)

I hear you, I have "down-sized" all that I want in my collection, but I also don't want to break the bank... I will spread out my purchases, and hope that these excellent non-refurbs keep on coming.

Not likely to happen. It will dry out on the nice ones. Remember Canada is not the only country that wants those.

It's some new un-refurbs / un-issued Russian SKS in the EE.

Some very rare variations.

Complete sks noob here:

What accounts for the price differences between unissued Tula's and unissued Izzy's.

Does it all come down to rarity in year of production and series production?

I'm looking at getting my first one after christmas and was just looking at a refurb, but those unissued one you have are making me rethink it.

They are some damn fine looking rifles.

Yeah you nailed it. The difference in price comes down to year, condition and which arsenal it was made in. Read the stickies at the top of this section, all the answers you are looking for. I would suggest that if you are simply looking for a shooter, grab a nice refurb for under 200 bucks. If you are more interested in starting a collection then its time to start looking at the non-refurbed ones. Personally I have a couple nice refurbs that I like to shoot and a handful of non issued, non refurbs that I wont shoot.
SKSs are like potato chips, you can never have just one:)

Yes,year of production and series tend to set the price. I'm waiting my 11th SKS,should be home next week. I bought it from Jacques, anice Tula laminate, unissued 1956 serie "K". The "K" serie is likely the last batch of russian sks's that were manufactured. Jacques also have an unissued Izhevsk, more expensive than Tula because unissued Izhevsk are not common and anyway,Izhevsk are pricer than Tula because they were only made for 2 years,1953 and 1954.On the other hand, Tula 1954 unissued seems quite plentiful from the recent imported batch.

Thanks shooterbuck and svt1940.

Yeah I've heard SKS's are like potato chips, can't have just one.

That's what my bank account is afraid of. :D

But after reading all the posts about how much fun they are to shoot, I'm going to have to risk it.

Guys, there has never been a greater selection of unissued, non-refurished SKS's to choose from. Jacques and Westrifle seem to have, by far, the best selection and the finest specimens. I am having cold sweats trying to prevent myself from buying another !!!! My wife will literally kill me if I sneak another SKS past her. :) And, I can't hide the "cosmo removal process" from her. :)

svt1940, the letter series, "no date" Tulas are very interesting:

The SKS Registry, with 2227 responses so far, contains the following information regarding the 1955 and 1955/56 (not date) "letter series" Tula, single letter suffix:

Д -- 127 occurrences (of which, 14 are date stamped 1955's)
И -- 155 occurrences (of which, 2 are date stamped 1955's)
К -- 109 occurrences

There is also 1 "H" series date stamped 1955 and 1 "T" series date stamped 1955 --- VERY RARE!!

Again, "К" does appear to be the last "no date" Tula, and no doubt produced in 1956!!
