My friend is a co in Ont. There are both federal regs regarding firearms and provincial regs regarding hunting (3 rds in a shotgun for hunting in Ont for example). He says if the shotgun complies with the fed regs, its ok to hunt with provided the number of rounds is correct. The other thing is that the really short shotgun phenomenon is fairly new to the scene, and he had never seen one before, and he didn't know that my 12 1/2 was a non restricted firearm. I showed him my papers and he said it would be ok, but I would suggest you have your reg certificate with you because most CO's (and cops for that matter) have never seen a shotgun that short and they aren't likely to take your word for it.
