500 m? Burris Eliminators will do the trick........ Turned my Tikka T3x Creedmoor into a tack driver.
Probably ment it made him shoot better…. Cause the rifle shoot the same lol. Actually I think we shoot the same either using open sights or scope is just that with the scope we are more precise/accurate?!?!A scope made your rifle shoot better? Interesting. How would that work?
And matching scopes ! Then All is the Same !You like your Nightforce. Get another one. Why try something else, "economical", and end up disappointed?
Which Model ?Thanks for all the advice. I ordered a Sightron S-Tac. Now just need all this freaking snow to melt so can test it out.
YOU will like it a lot - i have 4 S111 sightrons ! Love themS- Tac 6 to 20X
Just got it and everything looks great but won't get to the range till spring. -25 and a crap load of snow lol..
i just bought one today ! New S Tac 3-16 duplexx2 .... Have two S-Tacs in 3-16 duplex. I like them.
There was a new one for sale on GP. It just sold.i just bought one today ! New S Tac 3-16 duplex![]()
I would love to be able to say all the scopes I have off the top of my head...I can list the rifles, models, and calibers they are in though. Barely.I have 3 x Athlon, 2 x Bushnell, 1 x Leupold and 1 x Nightforce.
The Nightforce is the top of them all as would be expected.
For a more economic purchase, the glass on the various Athlon's gets better as you move up the lines. I have had zero issue with any of them.
Yup to meThere was a new one for sale on GP. It just sold.
Riton ticks all the boxes, and will likely save you some money; I love mine, <$400.00 clear, Paralax, Zero stop on elevation, center zero on windage, 6-24 power on my CZ 455 precission rifle and a 4-18 on my 6.5 x 55. It is reliable and has enough adjustment I zeroed the .22 at 20 yards with a 40 MOA rail, and have enough adjustment to dial up past 300 yards. Lifetime warrantee as well.So I have been looking, researching, looking at various scopes and my head is about to explode. The scope is for a 6.5 cm that will be used at the range and not hunted with. I have a Nightforce SHV 5 to 20X on another rifle and am quite happy with it and would be happy with another but if I can find a more economical option I may go for that. Some of the options:
1) Vortex Viper or Venom
2) Bushnell Match Pro
3) Possibly some of the Arken or Athlon offerings
My requirements are:
1) 20X or more but has to be clear at 20X ( able to clearly see a five inch circle at 500 meters )
2) No illuminated reticle ( I really don't like those )
3) Solid tracking, and able to hold zero
Overall I want a solid, clear and durable scope and do not need any frills ( 30 or 34 mm tube )
Thanks in advance and all suggestions welcome
True story, a fine, visible reticle in a stable, repeatable scope, will improve the precission of your accuracy dramatically. Not joking. Like a red dot with a 5 moa dot. You will shoot larger than 5 moa groups. 2 moa, groups will be about 3 moa smaller. My Riton has what I would call a micro dot where the cross hairs would converge, but they stop a bit short. At 24 power, the bullet holes at 100 yards are only slightly smaller than the scope dot. BTW, I love watching the bullets ark through the air and hit the target! Previous scopes were never clear enough!!A scope made your rifle shoot better? Interesting. How would that work?
But it has nothing to do with your rifle ability to shoot better or not. It is you, it makes you shoot better because you can be more consistent on losing the crosshair on target at the same place. The rifle is shooting the same. And if you shoot enough with open sights you could get really good results but it will take time !True story, a fine, visible reticle in a stable, repeatable scope, will improve the precission of your accuracy dramatically. Chicken-egg; cart-horse. Cause and effect. Even placebos work. But it has nothing to do with your rifle ability to shoot better or not. Nope. Wrong. The rifle is capable of shooting to it's limit of accuracy. What sights are used doesn't change that. Sighting apparatus can make the man shoot better, but not the rifle.Chicken-egg; cart-horse. Cause and effect. Even placebos work.
