H Wally said:This was battled to the death in the other thread. The end result was that it would have been too difficult for the company to make a decent or even functional repro of the stg 44 in 7.62x39, most of it's importance was in the caliber used, if you can afford the gun you can probably afford the ammo, and they'll be making 8mm Kurz ammo available.

Claven2 said:They exist, but no importer has brought them in yet. MGS is making them from new stateside with exportable 16" barrels.

Don't like it? Don't buy one! .
Tyler said:I find it hard to believe that people think it would be 'easy' to re-chamber these things for 7.62x39... it's a longer cartridge! Don't you guys get it? That means: new mag, new reciever, new gas system, new sights, etc, etc, etc... they would have to completely re-engineer the rifle which would drive up the cost.
Spencer said:There is very little difference between the 7.92 Kurtz and the 7.62x39, especially when compared to the .22 rimfire. It is my understanding that there is a repro STG 44 available in .22 long rifle. A 7.62x39 example would be simple by comparison.

Spencer said:There is very little difference between the 7.92 Kurtz and the 7.62x39,How about the 6mm of casing length and the .3 mm of bullet diameter. The pressure differences on the gas system are also a concern as well.
As already said, this would cause a whole new gun to be made. It would need a new magazine, mag well, a new chamber and barrel and a new gas system. They would have to redesign the whole thing which would cost alot of money and take alot of time.
If you have handled these before, you will realize that it takes alot more than just swaping barrels to change this. But if you think it is so easy, draw up the engineering plans and have a gunsmith build one.
