Heatshields...

You should keep an open mind about different techniques, try loading from the shoulder without using your thumb, say it got hurt ,broke, cut, cut off or what ever, this is when the roll over loading works.

or if you're using 6 rd strippers ,try while holding more then 4 rds in your support hand, again roll over works. know when to use it.

We have a weiner!! :D

Yeah, you don't always get to reload the way you want, or be able to shoot with your dominant hand etc. It's great to be able to practice techniques that will allow you to still be in the "fight" when your main system fails.. :)

Indeed, indeed...
Can't argue that.

Could you elaborate on the technique though?
Would you "tray" the round between the index & pinky, then push it home using another digit?
I tried it (shotgun in the shoulder/workspace), but I'm having trouble keeping the shell from flying back out (if the "breach is closed").

Worked with the slide to the rear & the lifter pushed up into the receiver.

Anyway, any clarifications would be appreciated.

Your set up looks solid enough.
Have you put many rounds downrange with the shield on?
Curious to know how it holds up to repeated recoil...

Its very tight and have about 500 rounds through my shotty. I had to make it tighter the first time, but after the fitting was done it's all good to go.

shotgun stock tucked under arm, loading port facing up ,drop the rounds in the port [this works best with the mossberg, another strong point for the mossy, shell lifter stays up out of the way.], push forward with what ever fingers are still working, you should be able to manage to hold 1 or 2 rds at a time doing this .

this is getting away from you topic though, get the heat shield,it doesn't take away from the shotgun, and a little extra wight helps soak up the recoil.

best on on the market only one i will use on my combat shotgun builds is the Factory mossberg parkerised units.
Its made for the mossy but will work no problem on the 870.
bbb

I agree, much better quality than ATI. I picked one up for an 870 I had years ago. I liked the shield but ended up selling the gun a while back. I'd like to buy another Mossy shield when you get some in for my newest 870:).
