Heckler and Koch - how do you pronounce it?

HK over priced?

In a nutshell, who cares if they're over priced or not. if the government has their way all guns will be overpriced once they ban all of them with no compensation to us, the rightful owners. They'll either be welded up wall hangers or in the landfill. I took possesion of my new toy. HK MK23, and I love it. $2200 overpriced, good, worth every cent. I'm going to shoot the #### out of it before it becomes redundant in the government eyes. So guys, relax , its only money. Try marriage, and divorce.. Thats more expensive than any gun, ever made, including Holland and Holland yikes... so go shoot and enjoy your hobby,,,,,,while you still can!!!

P.S. To throw your question back at you, do you really think that Beretta is that much better than a CZ 75 to justify the $300-350 dollar difference?

actually I do, Beretta is gorgeous and has better reliability IMO, the quality is better to I believe.

now I've got to say something; I tried to likie HKs but what turned me off were the narrow grips, I just can't stand 'em. Don't know how someone can find them comfortable :? even a Glock feels better in my hands

Now you're on to something. It's called personal preference. Many people believe that guns like HK and SIG are better engineered and more durable and reliable than Beretta, and are willing to pay a premium for higher quality. Others think that Berettas are just fine. To some, Glocks are beautiful. To others they look like something that should be floating in a toilet. Heck, there are even people who think that Norincos are the greatest thing since sliced bread. To each their own. Enjoy shooting your preferred brand, but don't waste your time trying to convince others that their favorite guns are overpriced junk. I doubt you'd get very far with that.

Heckler und Koch...hard to spell out phonetically(well I didn't study linguistics)...but 'heck ler und koc(you can perhaps think #### and make the k silent). The problems arise when people try to prounce ä ö ü in words....and when they see ß and think it's a B.

As for overpriced...I think it's a matter of understanding where money goes. The money goes into development of a product. Material costs are barely a question to consider. Did you buy your computer because it was made from titanium and diamond? Plastic products can be very strong and steel is rather cheap. I agree that certain guns don't seem worth it but one has to consider what they need and expect from a product and also consider exchange rates with products. Sig Sauers have a particularly good price in canada...while in Germany it is rather expensive.

It's a matter of personal preference and what one is comfortable with. If something fits you and you feel able to use it properly, it is good for you....if not, it won't matter how expensive or high quality it is, it just won't suit you. You can't buy shoes because some superstar athelete uses them or even more importantly for ski boots or whatever...they have to work for you.

You cant convince me that Beretta is more reliable than an HK, Glock or Sig.

Ok but I’ll try anyways :p Beretta is every bit as reliable as Sig or HK or Glock and I think even more. Why? partly it’s due to the open slide design; it gives you the biggest ejection port you can get! Which makes it next to impossible to have an FTE. But I think Sig is a very good gun as well better than Hk or Glock for sure...

BTW I found this about '85 US army trials on the http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg09-e.htm website; “Both the SIG-Sauer P 226 and the eventual winner, the Beretta 92 passed each requirement during the trials, beating out offerings from Colt, Ruger, Heckler & Koch and Glock”

Colt was not DA first shot, Ruger genuinely failed. HK and Glock bowed out because they were unwilling to surrender patents.

Maybe it was also a better price (as to why Beretta one out over others for the trials)?

DHS in the states awarded the largest pistol contract in history to HK and SIG....

Specials forces (ie SEALS) use the SOCOM Mark23.......

I actually almost got the Beretta Vertec (I have small hands) , but ended up with an HK because of positive things I heard about HK's. I like the mag release, because I don't have to use my thumb, I just push down and the mag springs out.
Both nice pistols, but I prefer my HK. I like Glocks and Berettas as well, and I am not going to say anything negative about a firearm I don't shoot, I think we are all a little bored of that ..........

capp325, thanks for the interesting read…(I didn’t have time to read it before)

It's obvious that the author of the article prefers .45 1911to a 9mm Beretta,

but he DID say this;

"Few military sidearms have proven themselves to be as good a weapon as the M9 has turned out to be"

"After the initial bugs were worked out, the M9 pistol developed into a reliable combat proven weapon"

" After the production problems documented previously were addressed, the pistol proved to be mechanically sound and reliable, enduring hundreds of thousands of rounds..."

sounds good to me :D

Look, this is idiotic.

It's basically impossible to say, amongst the wonder nines, which is better of Beretta, Sig and HK. I would include Glock in there... except I'm pretty sure Glock isn't on their level quality wise... unless you define quality as stone cold reliability...

Anyhow. Berreta: made in the US now, so covered under NAFTA. Anything from Europe? Not covered under NAFTA. Can someone check me on that?

Great for getting sand and grime in there!

QUOTE: Great for getting sand and grime in there!

Your kidding right? How many berettas are in the sand box right now, mag issues thats it. Sand gets in everything. No matter what gun or design. This thread went from a language lession to who makes the better gun. time to move forward and let this one go.

It's another thread thats becoming ridiculous. How many of you guys have actually used a pistol in a military enviroment (I'm talking about dirt, sand, sal####er etc.),to be entitled to compare any of the pistols mentioned,in a factual, unbiased way?-Rainer

H&K makes safes? i bet they retail at about half the price of a medium sized house!
velvet lined shelves psssssss

SHUT UP, i know im just jealous and wished i could afford one :(
