Held an HS Precision HTR today

EC: You sure love the .308 caliber...Nice collection though. Very rare I shot 1/4'' MOA with my HTR, more like 3/8 to 1/2+'' was the average.

Skullboy,
I agree with you for the most part but the H-S is a production/factory rifle, so is a TRG and an Accuracy International AW. All are quality rifles and can outshoot I would say the majority of the shooters although our ego's would say otherwise. They are not the average factory rifles and H-S precision makes outstanding match grade stainless cut rifle barrels which in my opinion is a critical component. I have a custom Remington 308 with a McMillan A-5 stock and a Mike Rock 22" fluted M-24 contour and a H-S Precision Pro Series 2000 HTR. Both rifles outshoot me by a long shot. If the shooter is not up to the task you might as well get a Remington 700P, shoot the s**t out of it. I have also seen guys with stock Remington P's outshoot guys with custom guns that cost 3 times more. A custom gun tuned up to the nuts does not guarantee one hole or 1/4 minute groups just because it is a "custom" gun. If the nut behind the bolt does not do his part. I have shot with guys using top of the line custom guns and they were dissapointed because they were automatically expecting 1/4 minute groups because they were shooting a $4000 rifle.

I can not disagree with you on the points you have made.

My main point was that for the Money, I can have a custom rig built with the barrel, action, stock, etc of my choice the way I want it.

I prefer to have things made for me (if I can) when spending that much coin.

My box stock PSS was a great shooter with the factory pipe.Having it re-built/re-barrelled made it that much more consistent..................

However as you say, the true test is the guy behind the gun..........so we ALL must practice, practice, practice!!!!!!!:D

SKBY.
