Ive been on the site for awhile and have not really posted much if at all. Bunch of army buddies got me to join and I have really enjoyed watching the equipment exchange and among other threads. I do have my license and was an avid hunter at a very early age fired my winchester 30/30 at age 7. After mom and dad got divorced the hunting quickly stopped and it was something that was shelved in my life for many years. within the last 5 years (im 27 btw) I have gone out 3 times with a cousin who hunts very regularly. I don't have my childhood 30/30 anymore but want to get back into hunting with pops. Id much rather go out with my own gun rather than have to use my old 30/30 or whatever he wants me to use.
Oh the best part of the story I found some 24k gold in my house in the downstairs recroom bar. I weighed it at roughly 5oz of scrap 24k. I took it to 3 places first a pawnshop the guy wouldn't even tell me what gold was going for and all he would say was "whatya want for it". So I went to Money Mart and the girl weighed it and said she never seen anyone bring something like this in before. She ran some gold tests and said its 22k forsure because they don't have a test past that and estimated me $3200 for it. She wasn't cleared to make a transaction that high so she had to talk to someone high up who basicly ended up saying they will give me $1900 for it and thats at the 14k rate. She suggested I go to a reputable jeweler or goldsmith, I figure Independent Jewelers is pretty big so I went there to get more info or possibly sell. They wouldn't buy the gold but gave some very sound advice. They suggested I have them melt the gold into 1 piece for $50 and simply take it to my bank where I could get the going rate.
I want to sell my scrap gold and buy a gun for hunting. Of coarse I want the best value for my gold and great value for my hunting gun. What do you guys suggest I do with my gold and what do you guys suggest I buy for a gun. Oh by the way we hunted Elk and Moose strictly as I was growing up and nothing has changed.
I'm right handed , never used a scope (always used open sight), was leaning for a tikka t3 or something around that area. Dad uses a winchester 270.
Anyway thanks for reading and thank you even more if your going to give positive advice for a person who's trying to simply feed himself
heh.
