I Know the Canadian Air Force had some squadrons in Germany during the Cold War. But were there also ground-troops?
We had a mechanized Brigade Group posted in SW Germany - 2 infantry battalions, mech artillery regiment, tank regiment, Combat Engineer Regt, etc. in Lahr and Baden-Baden. In earlier days they were in Zoest (IIRC). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CFB_Lahr

With regard to VW, VW had a program where you could order a car through a Canadian dealer, it would be built in Germany, and I guess due to German export laws it had to be delivered outside of Germany and Luxembourg was where most took delivery. In essence, I saved about 20% on the price of the car vs. what it would have cost in Canada.

Theholeinthedonut,

Welcome to CGN. I am an American trying to stay abreast of Canada's laws. You will find good advice here as well as strange regulations (like the banning of any .32, or 7.65mm (for the metric weenies) handgun Ammunition in Canada).

If you have any questions on American Gun Laws, please let me know and I will do my best to assist

A G-3? Lucky you. If I stay in Germany a year I can get my firearm licence and buy the same. In Finland now, I can have my Sako95. Only in Canada can I have what I don't really want.
It is not a matter of wanting what I cannot get, but of wanting what I want. It is that simple. Of course Chretien once said to a man complaining about some aspect of life in Canada,"If you don't like it you can just get out of Canada."
How arrogant. Then again that was life undet the Red Liberal Comrades.

In Germany you can't get your hands on a real G3, only some semiauto knockoff and still quite tough to get the Paperwork done.......but in LUXEMBOURG you can.
when it comes to pinkoes::shotgun:

Yes, oif course the HK 91 or whatever the 7.62x51 designation is. How does is shoot and how do you like it compared to other rifles you like?

I will tell you next week, I should get the paperwork on Monday so I can pick up the rifle on tuesday night. Yesterday I just bought some bits and pieces.

I remember shooting the G3 during my time in the Army, I prefered it to the FAL that time.

It's a Canadian thing. You can hardly walk anywhere in Canada without seeing a coffee cup or doughnut box from Tim Horton's. They even sent over a mobile Time Horton's for our troops in Afghanistan :)
