Hello from Poland!

Welcome to Canada. Wait until you have your first moose hunt. Wish you and your family all the best.

Nester,

What will you be doing for work when you arrive here? What did you (Do you) do now?

I'm guessing you have a job lined up already and what part of the city will you be living in?

Please pm me if I can help you get settled or you need any assistance, I'd be happy to help!

Scott

Welcome to the promised land. British Columbia used to be the promised land, then it turned out it was promised to someone else. Ontario thinks it is the promised land, but they must not know any better.

You may have already posted this, but where in Poland are you from? My wife is going to Poland this summer to a town called Giecz, (I think) it is just east of Poznan.

Good morning Scott :)
Well, when I left the Army in 2001 I faced the 30% unemployment rate (official rate was a little bit over 20%, but God only knows how they were counting this).
Literally there wasn't any job available for me.
I don't like to ask anyone for the money (including the governments).
The outcome was simple then - I started my own business.
Branch office of the Polish Post in my neighborhood.
It wasn't easy, it wasn't what I wanted to do for living, but I could support my family and it was a BIG plus.
I was running it for over 5 years.
Thanks to this job I was accepted as a "skilled worker" by the Canadian government.
However because this job was taking too much of my time (the preparation for the move is taking a lot of time also - all the paper works, arrangement of the money transfer, selling our staff here...) I started a new job lately.
I don't have any job waiting for me across the pond.
I'm sending the resumes, but I'm sure that the companies aren't interested because I'm still sitting in Poland.
I'm looking for an entry-level job.
It would be perfect if I could enter the security & protection business since my dream is to join the Police in few years, but I'm ready to take any decent job and learn the new things.
I graduated from the Military University of Technology in Warsaw in 2006 (Diploma in Security).
So, looks like the future is great, wide, open and clear book for me :)
I will remember about your kind offer.
Thank you very much.

Hiya Ian. Sounds good to me.
Giecz?
Is your wife an archeologist?

Once you get citizenship vote nothing except CPC (conservatives) as everyone else wants to take our guns . Don't know if they take landed immigrants or if you have to be a citizen but police forces all over Canada are hiring . The RCMP is looking for 2,500 new officers right now . Canada benefits if we could find many more families like yours .

As soon as I would be able to comfortable and fluently speak English I'm going to send my resume to the local police.
The RCMP is another league - I need the Canadian citizenship first :)
Anyway thank you for the comforting answer.
I will do my best.

Witamy :)

I'm sure you will love it in Canada.

If you are ever in BC send me a message and I will buy the beer :D

Another Polak to the mix... Witamy :D

Glad to see you having a plan, being an import myself there's many oppertunities here that we didnt have in Poland. Although the women (eye candy) aren't as plentiful :D
