Sounds fishy...
They were actually locked in cases - the only thing missing was the trigger locks, which in an ironic twist my husband was attemtping to do and the locks were taken along with the guns when seized that day.
If they were in a safe, how can they not be properly stored ?
Am I missing something ?
they were in a safe but no trigger locks, a must for restricted
Storing, Transporting and Displaying Firearms
restricted and prohibited firearms
* attach a secure locking device so the firearms cannot be fired and lock them in a cabinet, container or room that is hard to break into; or
* lock the firearms in a vault, safe or room that was built or modified specifically to store firearms safely.
* for an automatic firearm, also remove the bolt or bolt carrier (if removable) and lock it in a separate room that is hard to break into.

Ok a trigger lock or cable lock on the slide. either way they were not secured by any device...

Alright let me get this straight... Your pissed off now because you were too lazy to legally store your guns and now the police wont give them back once youve been convicted in court.... Hummmmmmm
What is your excuse as why they were not stored legally

Well if they were in a Cabinet, then a secure locking device so the firearms cannot be fired would be needed
only if in a SAFE is nothing required
They were not "in" a physical safe. They were in "safe" condition - they were in a locking case - just no trigger locks on the guns themselves. They keys for the case were stored separately - in a tackle box near them with the ammo.
So, they were "safe" but not in a safe.

Thanks for the thoughts Dale.True and I suppose they could claim there might be HD's in the cabinet so ...
Legally, even for transport, you need the trigger locks on them stupid as that is.
I will leave this thread, otherwise if I say more, I will more than likely get an infraction, and booted off the site...
with that said
good luck to you
I spoke to the officer today who's holding the guns. He advised that "if" the guns come back to me, they won't be able to be stored in the home due to my husbands conviction for unsafe storage.
OK
So I read it differently, I now understand
however, and unfortunately, your storage did not meet the requirements of the law for restricted firearms
good luck on your quest to get your firearms back
edit....
had to add, why the hell did they take the ammo.......? just another question I guess
